I had a private gender scan at 16+6 she said all looked fine but didn’t really say much else except it’s a boy! 💙 my concern is that on the scan, there was how I can only describe as an odd shape
on the back of baby’s head (shown in pic) when I asked her what it was she said it was fine and not to worry but have no explanation and I’ve not seen in this in any other scan pics, so naturally I’m anxiety ridden. Please could someone explain? Im not due another NHS scan for 3 weeks.

Any sonographers here?

It's most likely just a bit of placenta or uterine wall or similar that's floated into the shot - impossible to say for sure what it is from one still image, but really OP - don't worry. (If the "blob" was actually attached to/a part of your baby, the ultrasonographer would have recognised that immediately and told you, and referred you appropriately for specialist care).

Remember a scan is only showing you a thin 2D "slice" through a certain part of your baby, it's not like a photograph of the whole body.

A couple of things to remember is that ultrasounds are not pictures/photos themselves. Ultrasound an imaging method which uses sound waves to generate an image of a structure within your body. The image produced can look very different to what is actually in there depending on loads of factors. It looks like a normal scan to me.

Thank you so much, that’s put my mind at ease.
