12 week scan a week today, shall I wait or go for Harmony today?

I’m 38, BMI 29.9 and thinking that might affect the nuchal result. I have my 12 week scan next Monday at 12+4 or I can go for a harmony test today and have the results back by Friday. Is it worth it or do I wait until Monday? Bearing in mind it’s £400 (We won’t be finding out the sex of the baby)

I know it's soooooo hard waiting, but just hang in there and try to wait for your scan!

@Yellowflower123 you’re right, I will wait! Thank you

Depends whether you would want the extra reassurance. The NHS testing will miss a small proportion of cases that would be picked up by the Harmony test. At age 41 I decided to get it even though I only got the results back just after my scan. Your age related risk is much less than mine was so probably not worth it.

I went for a reassurance scan instead and she could see the nasal bone and the NT is very thin, it was a lovely scan and has helped put my mind at ease, until Monday! She checked the kidneys and brain also. The baby was hiding his/her face 🥰 11+5

There was someone on here recently who’d had Harmony first and then the 12w scan who was really worried because the combined test risk came back so much higher than the harmony risk, whereas if she’d had them in the other order it would have been reassuring.

It depends if you’re comfortable with the 15-20% of cases that the combined test misses, and whether you think you would want to terminate the pregnancy if you did find out the baby had DS for example.

I came back low risk on the combined test, but still decided to have the Panorama test as I’m 40 and so higher risk.
