How many weeks conundrum

Hi ladies, can’t believe I’m able to post on this board - first one 👋

Please can someone explain how I can understand how many weeks pregnant I am?

Sounds simple, right? But I’ve updated various apps and checked my due date on other websites and have received about 6 different figures!

I totally appreciate I’ll get the answer at my dating scan, but with it being our first I’m so keen to track things!

My last period started 12-July, and I have 33 day cycles… what would that make me?!

Doing it the, what I thought was sensible, and counting on a calendar, would be 4 weeks and 3 days, but others, including NHS due date calculator, say 3 weeks?!

NHS calculator does say 3 weeks. However, According to a medical calculator, 3 weeks 6 days!

No wonder you are confused! Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Thanks @TooHotTooGreedy , it’s so confusing isn’t it?! I don’t get why it isn’t just counting the calendar 🤷🏼‍♀️

Love the name by the way - can totally relate 😁

Your slightly longer cycle throws it off a bit, I got 3 weeks and 5 days from another pregnancy calculator.

I wouldn't worry about the exact days.

I'd go with the first day of your last period until your 12 week scan and they'll give your an official due date then

Thanks everyone for coming back, and also making me feel like I’m not going mad - don’t think I can blame baby brain quite yet 😁

We’re keen to do an early scan so didn’t want to book too soon - plus I like to know if it’s a poppy seed or apply pip 🤣

It's very confusing isn't it OP.

I used to have around 35 day periods when I conceived my DD, my due date was only 2 days later than using my last period date.
Since having my DD my cycles have been 28 days so was fairly certain of dates, but at my 12 week scan they put me 4 days further along! So basically it's a guessing game. I'd add a couple of days just to make sure when booking at early scan. Good luck.

Hey op do you know when you ovulated approx? That's the best way of determining an estimated due date (and remember it really is an estimate, only 5% of pregnancies arrive in their due date and it's really a due period between 37-42 weeks and most first babies are later than 40 weeks 😅😅). There are a couple good calculators where you can input your cycle length or ovulation date which will be more accurate. As a simple "first day of last period" not taking into account your cycle length won't be very accurate as the luteal phase (after ovulation) tends to be about the same between 10-14 days so a longer cycle makes a difference.

Just did it with your numbers and it gave me 4 weeks 4 days! Congrats x
