Midwife?

Hi moms and moms to be,

Last night I found out I'm pregnant with my rainbow baby! I'm very nervous but equally excited. I made an appt with my OBGYN for really just a consultation in a week and then another one for a consultation with a midwife (I didn't ask for) and an ultrasound same day.

I think I am high risk, only because I do have Hoshimotos Hypothyroidism and this would be my 4th pregnancy, the last 3 ending in miscarriages. I looked up this midwife and she has but ONE review anywhere I look and it's a really bad review from 2020. I'm nervous to meet her as I am super emotional anyway. And I'm not even sure I want a midwife.

Any advice? What may be the best course of action? I don't want to step on any toes and I surely don't want to shoot someone down before I get to know them, myself. But this is my first time dealing with this predicament and I need some insight. Photo of my tests for tax :) Thanks!

Congratulations! Are you in the UK?

I'm assuming you're not in the uk. US maybe. You might be better finding a site with more people from your own country as advice here is likely to be uk centric and we have a very different pregnancy care structure.

It wouldn’t occur to me to look for reviews about a midwife. UK NHS is a bit ‘you get what you’re given’, do you live elsewhere?

Congratulations and good luck.

Reviews of midwives? Where?

Yes those bits stood out for me too. I am from the UK but live in the US now and could choose where I had my care and delivery and people often ask for recommendations for Healthcare professionals. OP, (assuming you are not in the UK) find the local moms Facebook group and ask for recommendations there, people always ask for stuff like that on the one I'm in. They'll know better what is available and will have personal experiences.
