Hi. I’m 33 weeks pregnant and my office was painted with oil based paint about 4 days ago. I waited 4 days to spend the day in my office but it still stinks like paint. I’ve got 2 windows open and the fan going. Is there any risk to my unborn baby? I’ve been worried sick.

Safety professional here! It’s very very very unlikely that this is harmful in any way. Do you have health & safety people at work that you could talk to?
Did you have a pregnancy risk assessment done?

No, unfortunately. I thought it was okay since I didn’t do the painting and I don’t get headaches or anything from sitting in here but it just made me feel better to ask. I don’t wanna harm my baby

The sensitive time for chemicals is the first few weeks. To affect the baby now it would have to be something that’s having a serious effect on you too, and it isn’t.
After 4 days it’s just a smell. You’re probably a bit more sensitive to it than you normally would be. Honestly anything that gave off harmful fumes after 4 days would be banned! And the painters would have keeled over!
Easier said than done but try not to worry.

Thank you so much for your reassurance. I’m just a nervous person and we had to do fertility to have him so I’m even more nervous than others I’m sure. lol

I think my main worry was the VOCS
