Has this worked for anyone and if so how many weeks were you?

Yes! 39 weeks.

Passthetena · 09/08/2022 06:44

Ooh good to know. How long after did things start? I'm only 37 weeks but want to try everything to avoid induction if I go over haha.

Yea The night before induction started about 2 hours later

mrsbitaly · 09/08/2022 07:44

I'm going to be one of THOSE people. I tried sex, curries, raspberry tea, a whole pineapple- I was utterly sick, walking even a game of rugby 🤣 you name it I did it. Nope she wouldn't come in fact I had to be induced 2 weeks after my due date. I know people say it works for them certain things but I do believe it's just luck that it occurs after eating drinking or doing something in particular. Or that my daughter was just strong-willed and adamant she wasn't coming which matches her personality now lol

For all the wanting her to come I was actually sad that wasn't pregnant after I had to stop the urge to rub my belly 🤣

Your little one will be here soon enough, just a bit longer to wait, it'll be worth it. I wish you all the best congratulations!!!!

Yes! sex, a curry and walk, 2 hours later Labour started, a couple of days away from an appt to be induced.

mdh2020 · 09/08/2022 07:49

Laughing did it for me.

ZooMount · 09/08/2022 08:09

It's not the sex, it's the orgasm and you can do that yourself 😉

Babdoc · 09/08/2022 08:16

Yup, SRM (spontaneous rupture of membranes) immediately afterwards, at 39 weeks.
Luckily had a bucket beside the bed as had been feeling a bit queasy the night before. Caught over a pint of amniotic fluid in it, with barely a drop spilled.
Bit annoyed with DD for deciding to arrive a week early, on what was meant to be our last child free romantic weekend, though!

faithtrustandpixiedust · 09/08/2022 09:28

Yes, a day off 41 weeks I was fed up, had tried literally everything and it was completely the last resort but it worked 😂 had sex around 11.30pm and woke at 2.30am with really strong contractions, DD was born 28 hours later

It's actually the prostaglandins in semen which is thought to trigger labour.

BurningBenches · 09/08/2022 14:13

@mrsbitaly me too. Tried it all (5x) with my most recent regular good sex all through, up until my induction at 41wks. Not a thing.

That said I was induced 4 out of 5 times so whilst I'm pretty quick at labouring I lack whatever it is that gets labour started sadly.

Passthetena · 09/08/2022 14:31

Very hit and miss but definitely not going to hurt then by the sounds of it! My first came bang on due date but this one is due very close to my partners 30th so id like to avoid giving birth that day (and going overdue in general, induction scares me) although I know its not possible to guarantee anything with babies!

At 41 plus 1, by the time I got back from the bathroom I told him to put the hospital bag in the car as things had already gone from nothing to full on contractions 3 minutes apart..

I have extremely fast labour's.. my first went from 2cm to in my arms in less than 45 mins 😃

did you feel anything or have any symptoms before the contractions started?

Karwomannghia · 17/12/2023 00:44

Yes basically an orgasm that gradually turned into contractions Overdue by that point

faithtrustandpixiedust · 17/12/2023 10:10

@Ellbellx I was just a bit achy afterwards, didnt really feel like contractions as such though then woke with a bang at half 2 with very strong ones

SnookyPook · 17/12/2023 20:23

I think it's completely luck of the drawer tbh! I tried sex (39wks), curry, walks, raspberry leaf tea... DS came at 41+1. They come when they're ready! But if it helps you to feel a bit in control and trying things then no harm! Good luck 😊

SENlife · 17/12/2023 21:11

Yep, 6 hours later my waters broke. At 37 weeks exactly 😁

Treehogger · 18/12/2023 15:01

To be fair we were having sex every night anyway and then the last time we had sex was 12.30am on the Monday morning and my waters broke 4 hours later x
