Threatened miscarriage

Hi all, this is my first time posting however I always find the threads on here helpful.
I am 9+5 weeks pregnant with baby no2 who is 11 months old, and the pregnancy went really straightforward with no complications.

With this pregnancy I had an early reassurance scan at 6+4 weeks and everything was fine and there was a really strong heartbeat.

Friday evening I noticed I had some brown blood in my pantyliner and a bit of red in the toilet when I weed. Then nothing in my pad but went toilet at 6am and there was more blood in the toilet. As the hours went on the blood continued.

After calls to the EPU they told me to go in. I had my bloods taken and also had an examination where they used something to check how much blood I was losing. The doctor came back and said that the neck of the womb was closed, he wasn't concerned about the amount of blood I was losing and also said there was no pregnancy tissue found.

Before I had the examination I was told to do a urine sample so they could check what came out, the nurse said she thought there might be some pregnancy tissue in there however the doctor checked and he said he wasn't concerned and it might not be pregnancy tissue. Anyway after them going back and forth I ended up signing the consent form they needed for this.

So the doctor said that it could be a threatened miscarriage and to keep an eye on the bleeding or any pain. He's booked me in to go for a scan on Tuesday which will confirm more.

Last night I had some more bleeding and had a blood clot, still no pain but there's definitely blood when I go to the toilet.
I have done some reading on hepatomas and also cervical eruption. I guess I'm just hoping for some positive stories to hear that the baby might be okay.

Has anyone been through something similar? It feels like it's going to be a long wait until Tuesday. Thank you for reading the long post xx

Haven’t got much to say OP but got my fingers crossed for you 🙏. I’ve had 2 MCs and brown/pink spotting throughout my current pregnancy which freaked me out non stop but all seems okay now at 11 weeks. It’s such a rollercoaster but I hope it’s good news for you x

Yes I had spotting/bleeding for afew weeks.
All turned out fine.
Explanation I was giving, irritated cervix.

Good luck.

I had this with my second baby...

Started bleeding at work (13 weeks) and after scans/blood tests/speculum checks they discovered a 6cm Hematoma. Come 18 weeks it resolved and I gave birth at 38+2 weeks.

I now have a 2 year old and a healthy 3 month old (both boys) 💙

Hang on in there lovely. Tuesday is just around the corner xx

@HSKAT thank you for commenting. That's interesting, I wonder if it could be anything to do with me only having a baby 11 months ago and my cervix not fully recovering.. no idea hmm x

@babyboybluewithtwox thank you so much, I can't believe how many people have bleeds and thankfully all is okay. I will be sure to update after Tuesday, just keeping everything crossed xx

I had a fairly major bleed at 10 weeks with my first. As in my DH found me on the floor in a puddle of blood. Went to EPU and cervix closed and baby kicking away. When i look back at my early private scan they had written about the presence of a haematoma but hadn't told me about it. The scan at 12 weeks confirmed he had grown and was doing fine but I did bleed old blood until 16w.

I wish medics wouldn’t use the term ‘threatened miscarriage’ when a pregnant woman bleeds. it’s so alarming and often, unnecessarily so. My obstetrician told me she encourages her staff not to use the phrase.

I had quite a hefty bleed at 8 weeks, it was a sub chorionic haemorrhage. I had some bleeding afterwards but then all was fine. I went onto have another one at 19 weeks. This time unexplained. I‘m now 28 weeks.

First trimester bleeds are common and quite often, nothing to worry about. Good luck, OP.

@DangerouslyBored I know it seriously worries you even when you are already worried Hmm it doesn't help does it! I've read somewhere that if you've heard and seen a heartbeat the chances of a MC is lower, and because I've heard it I'm really hoping it means the bleed must be something else. Thank you for your comment x

@Beseen22 oh wow that must have been so scary! It's just crazy how you always think bleeding when pregnant means the worst so I'm really hoping that it's something like this and not actually the baby x

Just an update, I couldn't wait any longer in the unknown so I booked a private scan which showed it's no longer there so it explains my bleeding.
I'm so thankful for my LO I already have and feel better now I have some answers.

Thank you all for commenting x
