Pregnancy of unknown location and bleeding

I'm meant to be six weeks pregnant by my dates but have pcos so could be wrong. Had a positive test since last week. Started cramping and getting what was like a heavy period yesterday so went to the early pregnancy unit. They did a scan but couldn’t see any baby so took bloods to check my hcg levels and I have to go back in two days for the same. They said it could be a loss, an ectopic or simply too early to see anything. I’m wondering has anyone had this experience and things been ok? I do think the dates are wrong as such and I am earlier than The six weeks but I can’t get my head around a pregnancy surviving this bleeding, it literally is like a heavy period, I just am hoping someone maybe has a similar experience good or bad they wouldn’t mind sharing as I’m just waiting in limbo now.

Hi sorry you're going through this, I'm going through the same thing I had brown spotting for a week at 6 weeks so got a scan at EPU the spotting stopped but nothing could be seen on a scan, they took blood over a few days and they were rising but not doubling, I started bleeding on Wednesday had another scan and bloods on Thursday and bloods today to check they are going down now. My bleeding is very heavy so I know it's a miscarriage, have they checked your HCG levels? Xx

@Kt12344 I’m sorry you are having to aswell, it’s awful isn’t it. They took the first set of hcg bloods Friday and I’m in for more tomorrow so no idea if the levels are going up at all. Do you know when they can tell for sure that it’s a miscarriage? I’m on day three of heavy bleeding now so I’m not expecting to get good news.

@Yummymummy2020 i had the exact same in early June, started bleeding heavy no craps or anything else went for a scan and they said was pregnancy of unknown location had blood tests but unfortunately we’re very low, I did know this was happing at the time as the day after bleeding started I did another home test and was negative.

got everything crossed for you and hope your ok x

I've just got my results back they've decreased but in a normal miscarriage they expect them to half but they haven't so are ringing me back soon to tell me what happens next, I think you will find out at your next blood test if they decrease I think that means miscarriage, I knew I was miscarrying with the amount of blood and pain I had I've got to go to the hospital in the morning to see the consultant about what they want to do next, hope you get a positive outcome, a lot of people have success stories with bleeding x

@Mum2be86 thanks so much for sharing your experience. I hate the not knowing. I tested again there with a different test and it still says positive but I’m probably having false hope in the circumstances.

It's not 100% reliable and a lot of people are against it but you could get a clear blue weeks indicator and see if it has gone down, it won't tell you much and may also give you false hope, either way in 24 hours you should know what's going on with your blood test, the waiting and not knowing what's going on is the worst part x

Yummymummy2020 · 07/08/2022 17:50

Ah @Kt12344 I’m sorry to hear that they have decreased. I’m expecting mine to also. I really hope though that I can find out tomorrow soon after they take the bloods. It’s literally torture waiting to find out. I guess if I knew for sure I could come to terms with it but I feel as long as there is hope I’ll just be set for more sadness then when it dosent work out.

I know exactly how you feel, usually when I've bloods in a morning I get the results in the evening or if it's in the afternoon I get them the morning after, good luck x

I am literally going through the exact same at the moment and the waiting around is just awful. Was there any success stories from the above? I was passing clots this afternoon no cramps or pain whatsoever but have my second blood test tmro to compare results. Not expecting good news at all but trying to cling on to a glimmer or hope
