BBT question - temp rise but doctor confirmed ovulation was due to happen soon.

Hey there, I was hoping someone else had, had this but it does seem pretty specific.

we have been TTC for 8 months now and due to irregular cycles and no ovulation for the first few months are undergoing testing. I’m waiting for my blood tests but had my scan on Tuesday and this is where the confusion is.

I had the scan when I was 8DPO (confirmed on Natural cycles and Fertility friends) but while scanning me the women said that my lining looked thin for this date and then when she checked my ovaries, there was an egg waiting to go!

My confusion comes from the fact my temps have been risen since my apparent ovulation (had one drop but is coming back up) but obviously she saw an egg waiting to go.

Has anyone had this? Where your BBT rises but ovulation is yet to happen? I spotted on the day of the scan, and am now (10DPO) and I do feel like my period is coming but according the scan I would be ovulating at some point this week…. So confusing!

I think FF is a day out in terms of ovulation, hence the cross hairs but it does look like you've had a sustained rise and therefore ovulated. Did she measure the follicle at your scan? What was the scan for?

the scan was a general look essentially as we’ve been trying since last year and I only started ovulating (according to my temp) a couple of months ago. I was on the pill for a long time before this but got off last year around October time.

yeah she did and I think she said it was either 18 or 19mm, she also said my lining was too thin to sustain a pregnancy if I was 8DPO. My period has arrived today so I am now confused as to what the rogue egg and if I actually did release an egg when my temp rises.

i have an appointment the week after next to get my blood results back so will obviously update them on the period and they will have the scan results but the scan doctor was pretty convinced that my temp had risen and I was an anomaly that didn’t ovulate when this happened.

If your period has come today then I could be a corpus luteum (collapsing follicle post ovulation) or a cyst. Strange to have a thin lining though. Think you need to wait for your blood results to give you a better picture and perhaps just write this cycle off as an anomaly.

Update!

so have had a period since Saturday, but different than usual but not heavier or more painful, just different sort of flow. My temp hasn’t dropped and had a weird thought so did a pregnancy test this morning (was due to have some wines later) and it was positive but light.

I guess I am having a chemical but don’t know whether it’s from when I think I ovulated or the egg the women saw. I’m bleeding still a mixture of red, brown and tissue.

Either way will tell the doctors on Monday as the first would be an issue because of the thin lining and the second an issue as my period started 3 days later. What a weird cycle
but at least I am ovulating I guess!
