High CRP at 7 weeks pregnant

I wonder if anyone has had elevated CRP in their pregnancy, now or previous? I’m 7 weeks pregnant.

I did some blood tests in private and they came back with h-CRP height at 14.26 mg/L.

I spoke to my GP and she said it’s normal to have the level raised during pregnancy and she gave me a repeat test for next week. But looking on net pregnancy levels are not near as high as mine.

Im also waiting for a swab test to come back as I had an yellow discharge. That could be a reason?

CRP is an inflammatory marker so is usually used to investigate infection. A million things can cause it to be raised. It’s not crazy high so unless you pain somewhere or like a crazy temperature your probably fine. It’s one of those blood tests they do regularly as it can show you may have an infection when you have no noticeable symptoms

Thank you. I’m waiting for a vaginal swab test so it could be from there. I’m also having a light cold.

i just got scared as I saw some studies that say there is an increased risk of a child with autism if mother has inflammation during pregnancy, even at this small number like mine.

The GP has tried to reassure me.

Anyway I can’t prevent colds etc, but I’ll go for 20mins exercise per day which has been proven to reduce inflammation. I don’t see what else I can do.

CRP is informally known as the "completely random protein" as so many things can cause it to go up. 14 really isn't that high at all so please don't worry unduly
