Cervical scan 17 weeks

Hello,

I've got my first cervical length scan today at 17 weeks due to surgery I had on my cervix in December last year. They said it will be internal. Just wondering if they'll look at baby too or if you get a sneak peek at baby? My third baby but never had one before as never had cervix issues before.

Thank you

I got a sneak peak of baby but just depends on your sonographer:) good luck!

I had a cervical scan around 32 weeks and they checked baby quickly but I think it all depends on who you get

I had several of these and every time they did an abdominal scan first to check all was well with the baby.

Yes this time I had them regularly from 14 weeks and they did a quick abdominal scan each time, last time seven years ago it was just the internal scans

Thank you, this gives me a bit of hope then! Really anxious about it all so hoping the sneak peek at baby will ease some anxieties 🤞

I had to have lots of cervical scan during my twin pregnancy (just last year) and after measuring my cervix they did always quickly just show me the babies. Actually at one scan before showing me the screen they asked if I already knew the sex of the twins, they had to ask first because if I didn’t know already boy twin who was proudly displaying his bits was a big give away 😂

I got to see baby and my cervix was measuring 31mm which I think is good?! He said so anyway and said I'll go back in 6 weeks for another. Thanks everyone 🥰

Under 25mm before they get concerned, so a good measurement!

Hiya, can I ask when this scan was arranged for you I have surgery on my cervix in February and I’m currently 10 weeks. I mentioned to my midwife at booking but haven’t heard anything further

Lillygolightly · 06/08/2022 23:49

@Lottieloux do not rely on your midwife to automatically schedule a cervical scan or tell you that one is necessary. For any previous treatment on the cervix a cervical scan during pregnancy IS necessary, they started measuring mine at 16 weeks and continued 2/3 weekly measurements until I was 24 weeks. So push for the scan, if the midwife is reluctant or not in agreement you can request one at your 12 week scan at the hospital as it’s the hospital that books and conducts the scan anyway. All mine were booked directly by the hospital and not my midwife.

@Lottieloux I had a consultant appointment in the preterm prevention clinic at my 12 week scan. Your midwife should have done a referral to them at your booking appt but if they haven't contact the hospital to arrange it. As someone has mentioned already I've got scans to check my cervix at 17 week, 20 week and 24 week xx
