Nausea before bfp

I’ve done my research and I know it’s ridiculous to think that the way I’m feeling right now is down to pregnancy but hear me out.

im only 5dpo today and on cycle day 19. Since 3dp I’ve been feeling rough!! Nausea being the main culprit, this morning I had to run to the toilet 7 times in an hour to empty my bowels. I’m feeling useless and rubbish and totally paranoid this is pregnancy related.

we are trying for our 2nd child. My first pregnancy was smooth sailing - no morning sickness except for a day or two and I felt great, so naturally I was hoping for a similar experience. When I checked my tracker app for when we conceived DD on cycle day 18 I actually had a morning of nausea! This is what’s got me thinking that it could be pregnancy related.

now I’m over thinking it. I’m worried that if it’s starts this way and this early I’m in for a really rough ride. I’m also worried that it might mean twins (which would be lovely if this was our first pregnancy but we’re really not set up for having three kids).

so I guess what I’m asking is, those of you who had morning sickness before you got a positive test - how did it pan out for you? Did you have really bad morning sickness throughout? Did it mean multiples? Or is it just random and has no bearing on what the rest of your pregnancy will be like?

obviously there’s nothing I can do but wait and lie here munching on carrot stick because that’s all I can stomach but loooking for reassurance.

Generally pregnancy nausea is associated with a rise in HCG levels so you would expect pregnancy nausea not to occur at 5DPO.

I didn't have any sickness until around 6 weeks post my last period and 2 weeks post positive test.

wishing you all the luck in the world!!!

My HG started at the same point, and my dates were exact as I had fertility treatment.

gingerninja85 · 03/08/2022 12:43

This is what I was thinking and hoping it’s just a bug. Strange the coincidence from my last pregnancy though.

Oh gosh, how are you feeling now? Is this your first?

I'm 4dpo also trying for baby 2 and have had a horrendous headache and a bit of nausea this morning! I was wandering if it could be pregnancy related but I know it's probably way too early! When are you planning to test @gingerninja85

AKM89 · 03/08/2022 12:50

In my pregnancies to date I’ve always felt nausea pretty early - perhaps not 3dpo but definitely before implantation has occurred. I’ve read that if you conceive the ovary you’ve ovulated from releases hormones to stop your period coming, and have put it down to that, as it has always then abated until HCG kicks in. Don’t know if that is in any way scientific, but fingers crossed for you OP!

gingerninja85 · 03/08/2022 12:53

@auick I’m going to test in a week I think and reallllly hope this is just a tummy bug as I don’t think I’m made for feeling this crap long term!

@AKM89 Oh that’s interesting. Perhaps I’m really sensitive to that hormone. How was your morning sickness through your pregnancies?

AKM89 · 03/08/2022 12:57

@gingerninja85 it wasn’t too bad first time around, I am currently around 11 weeks and have to admit it’s been rougher this time but I think that’s partly the result of being a frazzled mum to my toddler! Hope it’s good news for you and that you manage to avoid too much sickness.

auick · 03/08/2022 12:59

@gingerninja85 I will be testing in a week too but this is our second month of trying and for some reason I had a random 40 day period last month which was actual torture I was convinced I must be pregnant as since having my daughter my cycle is 'normally' 26-30 days!

gingerninja85 · 03/08/2022 13:00

@AKM89 Aww congratulations! I’ll be in a similar situation with my 1.5 year old if I get a positive result. Another reason why I’m worried about having a rough time of it 🤦‍♀️😂

@auick Ah the mind games our bodies play on us! Good luck! Let me know how you get on!

Upon googling I’m wondering if I’m somehow sensitive to the rise in progesterone but only for this cycle as I’ve never had it before 🤷‍♀️

@auick om 10dpo today so if you’re pregnant we’ll be due at similar times!

OP posts:
auick · 08/08/2022 19:27

Omg so glad you can see it too!! I don't want to tell my husband unless I get a definite line tomorrow! I see you have a 1.5 year old already my daughter is 10 months I'll update tomorrow and hopefully we can be pregnancy buddies 😂

Bella9992 · 08/08/2022 21:09

Congrats @gingerninja85 , I felt sick in less than a week after ovulation with all 3 pregnancies I've had! I've always been sensitive to hormones, struggled with loads of side effects with the pills etc so I wondered if it was that!
