Brown grainy discharge 7 weeks pregnant

Hi everyone, I’m 7 weeks pregnant with my second child and yesterday I started spotting brown discharge. It’s only tiny bits and it’s not enough to even touch a pad and is only when I wipe but it’s definitely there. It was dark brown in colour yesterday, no clots or anything, but it did look grainy if that makes sense. And then this morning it’s lighter but also still a little grainy. I did have a private scan yesterday which is why I’ve not called the GP yet because we saw a nice little baby, in the correct place, with a flickering heart beat but I just can’t help but worry. I've not got any cramps, just the usual pulling and tugging and I'm still experiencing all of my pregnancy symptoms. I'm just going insane and thinking the worst 😩

Sorry you’re going through this OP. It could be a result of the private scan you had, assuming it was a transvaginal scan?
I had similar sounding bleeding at 7 weeks (2 days after private ultrasound) and things didn’t go my way unfortunately, but many people have this bleeding and go on to have healthy pregnancies.
I’d contact your GP or early pregnancy unit to see if they could examine you or scan you again. I hope all goes well xx

Hi, the scan I had was a transvaginal yes but the spotting started before my scan, then it stopped for a little while and then it started again so I'm not sure if the scan irritated my cervix and caused it to start again. However, it has stopped now and I have nothing when I wipe so I will keep an eye on it. As I said I did have a similar thing when I was pregnant with my daughter but just a little different so I got worried. I'm so sorry for your loss aswell ❤️❤️

Hi @Sykosocial I am 10+3 today... had scan at 8w (all good), then started bleeding the next day (also went on a flight, not sure if that triggered). Bleeding was red and heavy, then brown spotting for over a week. Had another scan on Saturday and all was fine.

I had a similar issue when pregnant 2-3 years ago with my now DD so although was anxious this time I knew it had happened before. Sounds like you might be in a similar situation so hopefully provides some reassurance.

Hi, Thankyou for the reassurance! At the moment it's stopped and not present even when I wipe so hopefully it's stopped completely now. I did have a scan yesterday and we saw a heartbeat which is great. I did have a miscarriage in 2019 so every little thing makes me worry. Fingers crossed little one is all good in there 🤞🏻

I had this on and off between 6 weeks to 10 weeks. Exactly how you describe it. Brown, grainy, only when wiping. I’m currently 27+1 and everything has been okay so far!

I had this with 4 of my pregnancies and the 4 ended in miscarriages, the brown grainy bleeding, sorry your going through this snd hope its s positive outcome xx

Hi ladies, unfortunately it wasn’t a great outcome for me. I miscarried the pregnancy last night and spent most of my day at the EPU. My body started passing pregnancy tissue on its own but there was some still left over that they had to take out of me😭Thankyou for all the helpful comments though x
