I explained to the midwife that I stopped taking Pregnacare. She said she will prescribe me folic acid. Then because I had pre-clampsia in first pregnancy she said I need to take Aspirin.

I got a call from the pharmacy today saying I need to find out how long I need to continue taking Folic acid for and usually Aspirin you take from 12 weeks. The midwife I have said she on leave and won't be back until the 11th but I know I can talk to another midwife.
I am a bit confused.

Does anyone know why the pharmacy would say that? She given me folic acid which is one box 5mg.
I have a lot of boxes of Aspirin.

I needs 12 weeks to hurry up now.

This is the same as me - I took prescription folic acid until 12 weeks, and from 12 weeks started taking low dose aspirin.

I'm on 5mg folic acid and 125mg aspirin. 9+3 today. Both GP and midwife signed off on aspirin now so doing as I'm told. Noone in the pharmacy questioned it and the midwife who did my booking last week was perfectly happy with me taking it though she did say it should be taken in the evening and not the morning

Oh and up to 12 weeks for the higher dose folic acid

I took the higher dose folic acid up to the day my baby was born. I was on aspirin until 36+6 weeks. The pharmacy phoned me to ask because they were not given an end date or a repeat prescription so they just wanted to know how much to provide me with in one go.
i started the higher dose folic acid from 10 weeks. A lot of woman stop folic acid after the first trimester but please go with advice from your midwife.

aspirin is recommended after 12 weeks, to decrease the risk of maternal bleeding and fetal abnormalities (mainly cardiovascular). Taking it from 12 weeks gives the optimal benefit vs risk.
