If you had a scan around 8 weeks pregnant, I'm intrigued to know how clear images of baby were? I have my private one booked for tomorrow and although this is my 3rd baby I never had a scan this early with my two, I just waited until the usual 12 week one.

Felt slightly anxious these past couple of weeks, so decided to book in hope I get a little reassurance that all is ok.

I had one on 8+1 and could see a heartbeat, and make out a baby type shape, as well as the yolk sac. It was measuring approximately 1.65cm, I think? Haven’t had my 12w scan yet, and I’m finding waiting for that quite stressful.

I was really anxious and before we started I asked the sonographer if it was a bad sign if we couldn’t see anything, because I had read online about early scans sometimes being too early. She said “we’ll talk more if we can’t see anything” in a tone which implied she was definitely expecting to see something.

I had one at 8w and 2d and baby looked like a little alien but could make out a head, little arm and leg stumps and the start of a cord. Had to have transvaginal as baby is so small

I've had 2 (separate pregnancies). There was a heartbeat with both and both looked like a gummy bear.

I had abdominal scan and was all very clear 😊 x

bombombo · 29/07/2022 19:51

Mine was at 7+2 (abdominal) and baby looked like a little alien blob thing with a flickering heartbeat Smile

Pheepa · 29/07/2022 19:54

Mine was transvaginal at 8+1 and looked like a blob. Could see flickering heartbeat.

Abdominal - they said they'd try that first and only do trans if it couldn't be seen x

allthingssparkly · 29/07/2022 20:12

Thank you @hopingfor23 that's good to know, I'm not bothered which way they do the scan so long as everything looks ok 🤞 it's just mentioned a lot in the pre scan reading about the early scans being TV. Mines at WTTW x

I had a scan at 8+3 with DS1. He looked like a little jelly baby with a flickering heart beat.

Beth262 · 29/07/2022 20:37

@allthingssparkly here are mine at 6, 8 and 10 weeks exactly. 6 & 8 TV, with 10 abdominal. All were at EPU.

Aw these are amazing @Beth262 😍 can't get over the difference in two weeks from week 8 and 10 though, its crazy how quickly in such a short period of time how they grow and develop 🤍

I ended up just having the normal belly ultrasound one at 7 weeks, I had drank so much water that she was able to get a good view but the picture wasn’t clear in the slightest. She confirmed the heart beat etc and asked if I still wanted the internal scan too and I thought, if I can get out of this situation knowing my baby is fine without needing a probe inside me I think il take that option so I said no, I was happy with the scan 😂

This was mine at which I thought was 8 weeks, they measured 7+4. Got pushed back 4 days at 12 week scan so could have been 7 weeks instead. (She was born exactly on the due date given at this scan ironically)
Just a little bean with a flickering heartbeat. Few stumps visible but that's all.

That little bean is 4 months old now 🥰
