I used to go to the gym a lot, several years ago, but I’ve been down to once or twice a week for the past year or two due to work. I know it’s not great to suddenly ramp up the exercise in pregnancy, but I want to do a bit more.

There are some pregnancy swimming classes near me (which I suspect will be lovely, but not hugely energetic) and pregnancy yoga but the timings don’t really work for me. Are they worth it, or am I better off doing something by myself (likely finally dragging myself to the pool)?

The guidelines are to keep doing what you've been doing, so you could maybe add in another similar gym session a week? If you're nervous about being pregnant then maybe a session with a PT would help?

Swimming is meant to be lovely whilst pregnant (I've been talking about going all pregnancy but still not made it) and you could manage your effort so you're not working massively hard if that worries you?

I'm 37w and have done CrossFit up to 36w when I ran out of steam, but just listened to my body and modified the movement/effort as I needed each session

Thanks. My two gym sessions are already with my usual PT, and I feel really safe with her (been using her for 18 months before the pregnancy, and she knew before our families did!), but can’t justify the funds for another session.

I might try a less intense class than I’ve got my eye on, and just speak to the instructor at the start. My main problem at the moment is dizziness/being light headed, so if I swerve anything too bouncy hopefully that’s ok.

V impressed at cross fit up to 36 weeks!

For me the most important thing was listening to how I felt - I felt dizzy doing anything even slightly upsidey downy from very early on so haven't done any of that in a long time!
