Twisting in first trimester- reassurance?

Hi all,
Hopefully looking for reassurance that everything is OK- I’m a massive worrier so likely over thinking everything.
I’m 5weeks5days pregnant. There’s a couple of ‘twisting’ episodes I’m scared about. Online says to avoid twisting in first trimester as it can cause miscarriage. I’m not sure if that can happen easily or if it has to be lots of twisting…
Around 3 weeks pregnant I showed my Dad how to do Russian twists…
Today I twisted my back when getting shopping off of the back car seat (2 door car).
Do you think either of the above could’ve caused harm?? Am I being silly? I hope so!
Thanks so much!
Kat

Very nicely yes you are😁 it’s the size of a piece of sweetcorn , in a water filled balloon , tucked under your boney pelvic girdle for protection. You will be fine. I’ve had rougher sex than that in all 3 trimesters, with all 5 of mine. Remember your folic acid though! And congratulations .

I wouldn't worry about it. I've never heard of twisting causing miscarriage. At this stage they are absolutely tiny and tucked well into your pelvis - like below where any twisting would be happening. I fully understand the anxiety - I'm on pregnancy three of the year following two miscarriages. One thing every health professional I've seen through my miscarriages and this pregnancy has said is early miscarriages are almost always due to chromosomes and such - nothing you do can really cause or prevent an early miscarriage.

I've only heard of not doing intense closed twist poses in yoga during pregnancy - modifying to open twists instead 😃

What statetrooperstacey said! In the nicest way, def being silly. It is SO well protected in there - your body knows what it's doing. We've been doing this for millenia! I'm 30 weeks with #2 and toddler keeps elbowing me and falling on me, and he's still v well protected in there.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and best of luck to you!

In the extremely unlikely event hard twisting caused harm, you’d have felt it by now - since the tiny risk involved is that things like deep yoga twists might cause uterine contractions. If you didn’t feel any discomfort/pain, no harm has been done, it’s not a long-term effect. x

You need to deal with being a massive worrier before your baby arrives. Speak to your MW

Thanks all for the reassurance I was hoping for! Will definitely speak to the MW about my health anxiety at my first appointment. 😊
