Implantation bleeding or period ?

Hi everyone. Been a bit of a lurker on this forum for years and find it so so helpful when I have a question as there is usually already the answer! But this is more personal. I'm 33 and had my copper coil removed 3 months ago. My partner and I haven't been ttc as such but also said if it happens it happens. We would be happy to fall pregnant but if it didn't happen by Christmas we would then try properly. I am due on my period today but I've been feeling a bit odd the past 3 days, and my boobs are so sore like they are bruised and I've been feeling sick and bloated. I did a test Monday, two yesterday and one today. I've attached photos, would you say these are positives, they all have faint lines ? I have just been the toilet and there was red blood in the towel bowl. Was this a chemical pregnancy? It's made me realise I do want to ttc if so. Have I imagine these positive pregnancy lines on the tests?

Hey, I'm so sorry for the confusion you're going through.

They are definite lines on those tests. What is your bleeding like? I've had both unfortunately. The month before I conceived this time, I got faint lines and started bleeding, was a chemical. The bleeding got heavier and lasted 5 days.

However with my implantation bleeding it didn't last longer than a day.

I think the only way to know for sure is to keep an eye on it and see how long it lasts and how heavy it becomes.

I can see the lines too. Like PP, I've had a chemical before where I got a positive test and then started bleeding like a full-on period, and the test turned negative. But I've also had implantation bleeding, although more brown/pinkish. Good luck x

Thanks so much for getting back to me both of you. I have got a pad in and there is blood but it isn't overly heavy. There was what looked like a small clot too , tiny. When I wee there is blood on the tissue too. I am holding onto the positive that I was able to get an egg fertilised in the first place so hopefully if this is a chemical (which is looking like it is) we can get again next month as this has shown us we want a baby! It's just strange as my period was due today too but those tests are showing a positive result so has my period come or has the chemical pregnancy ended on my period due date coincidentally?

I had 2 chemicals in a row. Basically we were ttc and we had sex right before ovulation and then I began testing with first response (these are extremely sensitive if your testing before your period is due) and i got a faint line on 7dpo, so a whole week before my period was due, I tested daily and the line got darker for 3 days but then on day 4-5-6 it got a little fainted which I knew then this wasn’t good news and on the day my period was due the line had completely gone and I began bleeding.

same again next month but 8dpo got a faint line, got darker for 4 days then stopped and vanished.

but then on the 3rd month I got pregnant again, tested positive 7dpo again, this time line was darker 4 hours later! By the time my period was due I had a pretty dark line but then bleeding started again, of course I thoihhtt immediately what the hell is going on here so I rushed off to A&E and they took my urine said it was negative (their tests are NOT sensitive) so I told them I was definitely pregnant! They took blood which confirmed I was pregnant, my bleeding stopped the next day, I bled on and off until 13 weeks then never again . He’s 4 now.
not sure why I kept bleeding but it’s happened again in this pregnancy too I’m 30 weeks now.

so it could be a chemical, I’d take another test (most likely the cheapie as that’s got the best line out of them all so you can compare the line) and that way you will see what’s going on, if the line is darker the bleeding may well taper off and stop like mine did. If it’s fainter or gone then I’m afraid it’s bad news.

@HPaddock if the tests are positive then you did get pregnant, a chemical is just a very, very early miscarriage (and the most common type of it, just happens so often and you wouldn't even know if you didn't test early enough). Btw some research has shown women are more fertile in the months following a chemical/MC. I was upset when it happened to me but also hopeful like you as was TTC #1 at 35-36 and had no idea if I could get pregnant in the first place. Currently 9 weeks and all okay so far xx
