Had my second growth scan today, baby has put on a pound in two weeks. Belly still coming up big at 97th centile and for everything else she's on the 90th.

They said she's big and because my last was 7.4lb it's a big jump apparently.
Slightly worrying about the birth now lol
Had my gtt test today and got a feeling it'll come back that I have it!

Anyone else have a big baby on scans ?

Yes my son was measuring 6lbs 9oz at 34 weeks. Had the gtt which was negative.

He was born 5 weeks later @ 39+1 and was only 7lbs 14oz. Take the scans with a pinch of salt!

My scan last Friday indicated 4kg. Today's scan indicates 3.3kg.

I'm just going to wait and see what he actually weighs when he pops out. Scans don't seem to be the most accurate things 😅

My DD born at 31 weeks was 3.9lb and had gestational diabetes as well. I was actually told she while she was a reasonable size for being so early she would have come in at 6lb odd at term - although term for me would have been induction at 38 weeks

Isn't it funny how for some people they aren't accurate but then you see others say they were bang on... I wonder why that is !
I know she has long legs (like her dad and brother) so maybe it's that !

My growth scans were pretty accurate with mine, I was measuring big by bump with one, the growth scan said he’d be 98th centile, I didn’t have gestational diabetes either but he was huge, came out nearly 10 pound a week early. Other one was measuring small on my bump so had a growth scan with her and they estimated her to be pretty average…she came out 7lb 11 x

Yes I’m 37 weeks and baby was measuring 7lb9 at 36 weeks. My 3 previous DC have all been under 6lbs at birth so I’m slightly panicking!!

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 27/07/2022 07:21

Nearly 10lbs 😱

Yeah I'm slightly concerned for my bladder more than anything lol it's already "collapsed" according to a ct scan I had done before for other reasons so wondering how bad it's going to be after this birth !

Does anyone know what the cut off is for a natural birth with big babies ?

I don’t know what the “cut off” is but you could request a growth scan towards the end if your worried. I was choosing between vbac or elective section with the one who was born nearly 10lbs a week early and one of my concerns were previous big babies so they did the growth scan late on and it confirmed he was going to be even bigger so for me I choose csection. My friend gave birth naturally to a normal sized baby and a big baby (9.5lbs) and the normal sized was horrendous and the bigger was the easier of the two and in her words “I loved his birth I’d do it again tomorro” so sometimes bigger doesn’t always mean harder xxx

I've been told today that's it come back I do have gestational diabetes and that explains why baby is so big
