Don't feel pregnant anymore - no fetal pole

I had a scan yesterday measuring me at 5-6 weeks. They could see a yolk sac, but no fetal pole at all. I'm certain I'm at least 4 weeks from the actual conception, because a Clearblue test put me at 3+ weeks and I took that exactly one week ago. I also know that it can't be more than 5 weeks and a couple of days at the most since I conceived. I also haven't felt pregnant since yesterday. I've not had any strong symptoms but I was having slightly sore boobs and some nausea, but that seems to have all dissapeared since yesterday. I've also been having some light/tan brown coloured spotting in my knickers for a week and a half now. I just don't feel hopeful somehow :( Has anyone been in any similar situations? I guess it's a waiting game to see if anything appears, it feels awful :(

I had early scans for both of my pregnancies due to health conditions. I've never seen a feral pole before 6 weeks and I think it's uncommon to

I also had light brown spotting for both pregnancies early on which the midwife said was quite common

Hold onto hope-I would have been surprised to see anything more than a yolk sac at this gestation. Can you hold on for a couple of weeks and get another scan? (And also I never got symptoms until about 8 weeks)

I had early scans with my last pregnancy. 6w there was a yolk sac and no pole, 8w there was a pole with a heartbeat. I did not get any pregnancy symptoms until I was at least 8 weeks. Baby is now 10mo.

I think it's very unusual for one to show up before 7 weeks.

Thank you. I think I'll have to just wait it out until another scan in a week or two time and just hope for the best. How long did your spotting last? I think it's just worrying me because it isn't stopping and I can't understand a reason for it. There's not much there each day, but it's the fact it's been going on for well over a week now.

Obviously being 4 weeks at least since conception, that should put me at the 6 weeks mark. But if I ovulated late then maybe it would change that? The whole dating thing is really confusing me. I just know that I'm definitely 4-5 weeks since the conception. Adding the whole two weeks onto that just confuses me 🙈

Thank you, that's reassuring. I remember with my daughter I had some slight nausea early on for a couple of weeks and then a slight aversion to a couple of smells, but that was literally all I had. No sore boobs, not weeing more, no tiredness, nothing. So I'm trying to stay positive. It's just more the fact I did have sore boobs and nausea and now it seems to have suddenly stopped. I know symptoms can come and go too though, so I'm trying not to worry. They said the yolk sac is in a perfect place so that's one positive.

Thank you. It's probably my fault for over-Googling. One page said you should see a fetal pole three weeks after conception and because I'm 4 weeks at least, I was panicking!

This happened to me in June... consider taking your temperature with a digital thermometer with two decimal points, first thing in morning before getting out of bed and if it is falling (usually below 36.8/9) then it may be an indication you are no longer pregnant.

PinkButtercups · 26/07/2022 08:09

You won't usually see a Fetal pole at 6 weeks. Usually 7-8 weeks.

You could've ovulated late. Unless testing ovulation you can't be 100% accurate when you ovulated and even that is not 100%. A lady I am in a group with although had IVF her sonographer has dated her a bit later than she thought!

I spotted around 7 weeks pregnant, it was almost like brown/pink discharge but only when I wiped. They didn't know why it happened also happened on my first pregnancy but bright red blood at 12 weeks - he's 3 now. I'm also 17 weeks pregnant with twins from brown discharge.

Sometimes it just happens, it's more common than you think it is. It's hard not to worry but just wait for your second scan and hope for the best xx

They made no sense 🤦🏻‍♀️. I meant I'm 17 weeks pregnant atm and I had brown/pink discharge at 8 weeks. They didn't know why it happened x

Thank you, that's reassuring. I've seen a lot of people say they only got discharge when they wiped, whereas mine seems to be the opposite. There's barely ever anything there when I wipe, it's just in my knickers. And weirdly it happens around the same time each day. There'll be nothing in the morning, nothing in the evening, it's always around mid-late afternoon I get it. I found out I was pregnant just over two weeks ago and it honestly feels like an absolute lifetime ago, the days are dragging, so the thought of having to wait a week or two for another scan is awful. Just got to be patient I guess. I'll be so happy if and when all goes well and I'm at the 12 week mark, I really will 🤣

@rach971 I feel your pain of waiting…I’m currently 5 weeks today.. however I went to a private scan on Saturday thinking I was 6 weeks pregnant (going by the first day of my last period). He said there was the sac but nothing else at the moment meaning either early miscarriage or I’m earlier in my pregnancy then I thought. My periods have been all over the place since coming off the pill and I’m waiting to re scan or have blood tests taken. the wait is agonising and every day seems to just drag. And I hate not knowing if I’m actually pregnant or not.
hope all goes well for you. I know reading peoples messages are giving me a little reassurance especially as I haven’t told anyone in my family what I’m going through xx

Scorpio8 · 28/07/2022 14:44

I had a scan 5 they said definitely sac there and it's in the right place as I feared ectopic was having pain right side.
Then 6 weeks saw the heartbeat. Then had a bad cramp getting off my bed on one side and since then not felt pregnant. EPU won't scan me no bleed got to wait until 24 August for scan which is I just think is torture.
My midwife is nice said bleeding or cramping she will get EPU to scan me but think best to wait now.
To be honest it's been left that long now whatever happens good or bad go with it.

@Scorpio8 That’s such a long time to wait. No matter how busy you are or keep yourself it’s always still in the back of your mind. I hope it goes quickly for you.
