Knock to the stomach at 30 weeks- let the midwife know or not?

I feel very stupid typing this but I just need a second opinion-

I have just managed to hit myself in the stomach with a spring loaded umbrella (the handle shot out and hit me in the stomach as I tried to fold it away). It hit quite hard just below my ribs and feels like it’s going to bruise.

My instinct is to wait and if I don’t feel baby as normal this afternoon to call in, but I’d like a second opinion.

I have an anterior placenta is that makes a difference to anyone’s opinion

thanks

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Blurp · 25/07/2022 13:38

I'd give them a ring; chances are it'll be fine, but in my experience they'd rather you contact them to be on the safe side.

Are you rhesus negative? Then definitely call as you might need the anti d injection

Peasplease12 · 25/07/2022 13:45

I’m not rhesus negative but I’ll call in just in case.

I think sometimes I just need someone to say ‘no you won’t be a nuisance’ so thank you

I ended up being seen by triage. It may be a coincidence or it may be as a result of being jolted from the umbrella, but baby had shifted position to much lower down which meant I wasn’t feeling her move. Monitoring showed the heart rate is fine and there were no concerns
