Had a growth scan at 27 weeks and baby was measured on the 90th centile and weighing 2.8lbs, is this big ? What would estimated birth weight be from this does anyone know ?
Thanks

90th centile just means that for every 100 women like you roughly 10 of the babies will be bigger than yours and roughly 90 will be smaller. If you trace the 90th line on your growth chart to the end it will tell you what weight they would expect. So at this point yes you have a big baby BUT....

At a scan around then my baby was measuring about 9th centile and we were planning with consultant for me to have her at 37 weeks. Then we went for a later scan and she was 40th centile so he discharged me back to the midwife 😂 and she was roughly 40th when she was born too.

So it's just something to keep an eye on, it might be right but it might change. I know that's not very helpful in many ways but I just take it that if your medical people are happy with everything then try not to worry too much 🙂

About the same maybe 3lbs. They tend to put more weight on at the end. My DS was born 7lb 2 at 38+3.

So just checked and it's estimated as 9.7lbs Blush
Everyone keeps saying how low I'm carrying, I compared a bump pic today from one I took at 25 weeks and there's only a tiny difference in bump size ! How is that possible ? I thought there would be more of a difffence by now

We had a scan last week at 26+4 and baby was estimated to be 2lbs4oz

They didn’t seem concerned but will see what the midwife says at our 28 week appointment this week.

At 28 weeks mine apparently weighed 2 lbs 8 oz which is apparently spot on the 50th centile. She's been more or less on that centile ever since (now 36 weeks, scan on Monday).

These estimates are extremely inaccurate though.

It's not really that much of an exact science, don't worry! They kept telling me DS3 would be over 10lbs but he was only 7, like DS2. He has long legs and that was throwing out their calculations.

jacksmannequin · 23/07/2022 12:46

They have said a couple of times now that baby has very long legs so maybe it is that aswell... her brother is all legs and arms and her dad is over 6ft so maybe she is the same !

The midwife measured my bump Wednesday and it was 29cm at 28+2, but I'll take more notice of the scans I think than fundal height
