My mum doesn't know I am pregnant but had said that really badly constipated. She knows I suffer from this a lot even when I wasn't pregnant.
I was telling her something and she said whatever you taking does it have iron it was very weird her comment. As I was taking pregnacare.
I am taking Lactulose

I didn't want to read and run. I'm Not sure what advice you are asking for. Should you tell your mum? It depends on your relationship. Can pregnecare cause constipation? Yes.
Does anyone else know you are pregnant?
Are you getting antenatal care?
How old are you?

Sorry I didn't finish my post and the thread was created.

Anyone had trouble taking Pregnacare? I know I should of asked the doctor yesterday but forgot or a midwife. Well still haven't heard from the midwife might have to call again. I am not sure if I should continue as I am taking Lactulose now.

I know no one is a doctor on here but just wondering of your experience.

I found pregnecare hard to digest. Folic acid acid, and vitamin d are the two vitamins you need and they are easy to digest. So you could get those. In fact, .if your getting sunlight at the moment, even indirect, you probably don't need vit d until the autumn. I've had two midwifes and one said pregnecare is pointless, just take folic acid and vitamin d. The other said take pregnecare.

I don't want to tell her at the moment as not feeling that I am pregnant. But that's on another post.

I am just not sure if I should continue to take them or stop as my constipation still quite bad.

Like I said I know no one here is a doctor or nurse. Sorry if I seem rude but people haven't been nice in my posts.

Are you sure it’s the Pregnacare causing constipation and not pregnancy hormones?

I personally haven’t had any issues with Pregnancare (other than them being too large to swallow properly).

You will be ok just taking folic acid alongside a balanced diet if they are causing you problems.

@Bramblecrumble21

I appreciate your advice

Thank you so much

Just take a different multivitamin with less iron if it causes you problems.
Or just the folic acid and vit D like PP says.

Scorpio8 · 20/07/2022 14:26

@RainbowsMoonbeams

I just found it weird what my mum said about the iron. She doesn't know about me being pregnant yet.

That's why I thought maybe it is the iron so thought let me stop them.

Just take folic acid and vitamin d. I found the pregnacare tablets impossible to stomach.

Scorpio8 · 20/07/2022 14:36

@Ebonyhorse

Yes I will probably do that. Thank you

Yeah try different vitamins but constipation can be quite a common pregnancy symptom. Prune juice helps relieve that.

Weefreetiffany · 20/07/2022 14:57

Start your day with fruit or some warm fresh orange juice. Things will soon start moving

miltonj · 20/07/2022 15:19

If it's making your constipation worse, I would stop taking pregnacare and just go get some folic acid, VitD and maybe calcium. Only if you get anemia later on, start taking iron.
Also iron is better absorbed if you take it with fresh vitamin C, so an actual orange or juice. And that should help reduce the constipation. But it sounds like it's something you suffer from anyway, so I'd hold of taking it for now, unless there's a need for it later.

Scorpio8 · 20/07/2022 15:22

I was looking at buying prune juice. I got oranges here too.

Thanks for all the advice

Why was it weird, it's a well known fact taking iron can cause constipation. Doesn't mean she thinks your pregnant.

Thanks for all the advice
