HCG levels more than doubling

Hi all

I had my first blood test on Friday levels were 77.
Yesterday @4 weeks and 3 days my levels were 988

Has anyone else had high levels? I had a miscarriage 2 months ago where my levels were low and not doubling.

Thanks

Haven't had this myself, for this pregnancy I never had my levels tested.

But they do say that higher HCG levels can indicate twins!

There are a couple of other explanations. Maybe get an early scan if you can? I wouldn't get one too early though, you want to be able to see something!

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 20/07/2022 16:17

Sounds like twins to me!

Msplove · 20/07/2022 18:28

@Regenbogen22 eeeek twins!! What other explanations can there be? I've read about Molar and also Downs syndrome.

Ah I also read about molar pregnancy so I hope it's not that. But also, some people just have massive amounts of HCG compared to others!

I'm going with twins. You'll have to keep us updated here 😅

Msplove · 22/07/2022 13:32

@Regenbogen22 Had my blood results back from yesterday
My levels went up from 988 to 2742 - so nearly tripled!

The gp so far doesn't seem worried. I think all I can do now is sit and wait which will be hard!

I will definitely keep you posted 😊🤞🏽

hoping for all good news :-) keep us posted x

Regenbogen22 · 22/07/2022 13:39

I'd be booking an early scan, for when you're 6 weeks or so, to see how many sacs are in there!!! @Msplove

Msplove · 22/07/2022 13:43

@Regenbogen22 I think you're secretly hoping for twins for me 🤣. I think after the miscarriage I should be able to have the early scan otherwise I will pay for one definitely.

We need to decide our hospital but I'm so unsure where to go. Wasn't happy with the hospital we went for last time. We are considering Queen Charlotte's which is about 27 mins away but with traffic can take about 50 minutes. Worry this may be too far.

High levels can mean twins haha.
At 4 weeks 5 days (my official test date as ivf) my levels were over 4500. I was worried it was high but so far (now 15 weeks) everything seems ok and just the 1 haha. Randomly i had hardly any symptoms either which i thought was odd.

Msplove · 22/07/2022 14:39

@Minnie82 Congratulations 🥰🥰 Glad everything is going okay so far🤞🏽

Did they say why they could be rising quickly? Ahh interested your hcg levels were much higher only the one for you!

@Msplove No they just said congratulations and booked me in for my first scan. They didn’t seem worried at all.
Hope everything goes well for you

@Msplove 😂😂😂maybe!

Would you be excited to have twins?

Msplove · 22/07/2022 18:32

@Regenbogen22 I'd be scared but I'd be happy as long as they're okay!

Wow that's pretty huge leaps ... triplets 🤪

Regenbogen22 · 22/07/2022 19:49

Well @custardbear is rooting for triplets, so take your pick @Msplove 😃

staincross · 22/07/2022 20:40

Awww congrats!!!

Definitely sounds like it could be twins

Msplove · 22/07/2022 21:37

@custcustardbear @Regenbogen22 If it's triplets I hope those messages are you both offering to help babysit 🤣

🤪 I'm too old and knackered after having two singletons (who are now 13 and 10 lol 😆)

Msplove · 26/07/2022 14:45

Yesterday my GP referred me to the EPU as I was having some pain. I had a scan today and the found a singleton pregnancy in the right place! In my report it says Gestational Sac and Yolk Sac visible. They said that this is normal for 4/5 weeks.
I do have a Hemorrhagic cyst in left ovar but they said shouldn't be causing the pain as not huge.
Have another scan in 10 days. I feel happy but I think still anxious.

Doesiteverhelp · 26/07/2022 15:27

I had high hcg levels too and just the one healthy pregnancy as well! Congrats!

Msplove · 26/07/2022 20:45

@Doesiteverhelp Thank you! Did you get aches and pains too? I seem to be getting a bad lower back ache on the left side near my hip and then the front side almost like pulling. If I sneeze or move a certain wait it pulls

OP posts:
Doesiteverhelp · 26/07/2022 20:57

@Msplove i did have the pulling pain when sneezing. And backache in my current pregnancy yes. It stopped in the second trimester...

Raindrops2015 · 27/07/2022 09:32

I had hip pain and sciatica in the early weeks and everything was OK. Also had a massive cyst on my ovary which they said might rupture but didn't. It did cause some pain though. They haven't mentioned cyst in last couple of scans either.
