Delayed induction and getting labour started

Hey everyone, I was supposed to be booked in for my induction this Friday just gone (2 weeks early due to medical issues) but every morning I get a call from the hospital sayin they are still too busy and don’t have any induction beds.

I know it’s annoying and very frustrating but nothing we can do other than wait, hopefully it will be soon - so fingers crossed. They say it’s busy everywhere in the region so not just my hospital.
Has anyone else has this experience of such a long delay?

Also, I had an attempted stretch and sweep yesterday and was only 0.5cm dilated but 1 point for effacement - had no cramping or anything overnight… is there anything I can be doing in the mean time other than colostrum harvesting and bouncing/circles on my ball???

Getting very hot and frustrated now as I was hoping baby would be here by now! :(

Lots of walking. When I was induced I was told to wait for a call to come in to hospital, they called me at 8pm. Do they just get you to call up every morning?

Berangere · 19/07/2022 15:29

They’ve said that they will call me at any time if a bed becomes available (even overnight), but they also call every morning to give me an update on whether it’s likely to be that day or not. So it’s a bit “how long is a piece of string”!

I know it’s frustrating but just remember it will be soon and your baby will soon be here

Lots of walking up and down hills I found worked for me.
Steeper the better.

@rebeldeca well, I'm booked in officially tomorrow which changed to a day earlier - today BUT my trust have you call at 730

So I did, called at 730 - was told horrendously busy call back at 10am
Called back - said still busy call back 2pm
2pm called back and said still busy call back 4pm

I feel hot and fed up and mine was bought forward a day ! So I can't begin to
Imagine how you feel - have they done this for 5 days ?!

I understand they are busy and they've said if they have emergencies they will take priority which I totally understand but like yourself I have been given this date due to medical reasons as they don't want me to go over 39wks so I kind of feel a bit worried at the same time

Mine was delayed for 5 days,I was being induced at 34 weeks for medical reasons,my waters reduced significantly,I was in hospital & it was during the pandemic so my options were limited but I found walking even just for a few minutes, taking a break & going again bouncing on the ball, actually relaxing & letting my body relax really helpful

S3x is the only thing kind of proven to do anything.

Walking, eating wtv, doesn't work 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'm sorry to stay but the sweep doesn't work either!!! 3 kids at nearly 42 weeks....

Best to rest as much as possible until something happens. Good luck!!

Berangere · 19/07/2022 15:56

Yep same here they normally won’t let me go over 39 weeks which is Saturday! But yes been going on for 5 days now of just waiting for them to to call me…

at least we have rain here now which should cool me down a bit and make me less annoyed 😂

Berangere · 19/07/2022 15:56

Thanks all!!!!

strawberrysummer19 · 19/07/2022 23:39

So, I called in and they said to come in!

However been here since 6pm and still waiting for the examination and to start the induction process

Unfortunately they've had a few emergencies and short staffed and I'm in a delivery suite room but waiting for a 'more comfortable room' so I can be examined and start the process and pessary

Midwife explained its going to be a long process and has sent birth partner home

Hoping you ladies get to go in soon

As much as I am bored waiting around I'm also glad to be here if that makes sense

I heard two babies being born either side of my room which was really lovely hearing the bubs

Feels surreal x
