We have 2 children, DS5 and DD2.5. I always wanted 3 children and DH was ok with that too. However, I took the coil out beginning of April and then DH changed his mind. We discussed it and went round and round in circles and decided actually we wouldn't have a 3rd due to the financial implications and cost of living crisis etc. Well.....we've just found out I'm pregnant. Its very early days and I feel so confused. All the reasons we decided against a 3rd are still there but I have never felt done after 2. We are financially stable but a large mortgage and childcare fees takes its toll and we could just about see the end of the tunnel with DD getting 30 free hours in Jan.
My parents and MIL are incredibly supportive but they worry about us having a 3rd too. So I just wanted to hear from others having a 3rd! I think we'd cope with 3 but I worry about the other 2 missing out on things because we've had a 3rd. Some positive vibes would be great!

Hi! I’m having #3 (20 weeks pregnant) and I have two daughters the exact ages you’ve mentioned. Although we never decided against it, we did go back and forth with the pros and cons and I did have some anxieties early on with coping practically and financially. Most of that has faded for me now and for me it came down to just getting to grips with what life would actually look like- reassuring myself that yes 3 car seats can be fitted in most bigger cars, many family hotel rooms accommodate 5, and seeing families at the school gate who have 3 and live a normal life working/holidays etc.
Ultimately, if you never felt “done” at two, imagine the regret that might have come your way 5 years down the line had you never given it a shot. It’s going to be manic for a good while, and some things will be harder- but you can say the same going from 0 to 1 or 1 to 2. You’re in the fortunate position of knowing that on those occasions the positives far outweighs the difficulties, and this time will be no different x
