No baby bump at 25 weeks

Hello everyone,

Im 25 weeks in 2 days with my first baby. She’s kicking and very active so I’m super happy about that. But my bump is sooooo small, especially for being sixth months pregnant! I could easily go out in a tight fitting dress and would just look like I’ve ate a big meal. Def not an obvious baby bump. Anyone else? :( it’s really getting me down. So tired of the “omg, u only look about 3/4 months, omg you’re tiny, where’s your bump” comments.

for reference, I’m size 10 and about 5’7. Any advice or comments would be appreciated

My bump is tiny too and I'm thirty four weeks. It sounds silly but I hate that I don't look pregnant. I'm in an NCT class with women who are behind me and they have lovely bumps. Love my baby so much though.

Carlichimp · 17/07/2022 13:34

I was the same with my first, I just looked a bit chunky until about 8 months. I wish people wouldn’t comment on it, it’s not helpful.

If you have a second you won’t have this problem again, your abs will be never be the same!

20viona · 17/07/2022 13:34

I'm 31 weeks with my second and look very small only just getting any hint of a bump. I was the same with my first, I don't care though, less to lose after 🤣

leah3 · 17/07/2022 13:37

Thanks so much all

@20viona this is definitely true lol! As long as my baby is growing as she should be, I’m happy but the small bump puts doubt in my head :(

My daughter was only 5lb 3oz i was induced at 37 weeks with her. Measurements so far for this baby are looking similar. Plus side, I was in my jeans 4 days after giving birth last time.

leah3 · 17/07/2022 13:41

@20viona thank you, this is reassuring 🙌🏾

Maybe a combination of height and strong stomach muscles?

Enjoy it, I’d say. The bump will gradually get bigger, and in this heat, a bigger bump is more uncomfortable in my experience.

RandomMess · 17/07/2022 13:43

You probably have a long torso and your tummy muscles are good!

LightandMomentary · 17/07/2022 13:46

My friend and I used to have this - our DDs were due within 2 weeks of each other and I had a large bump and she looked like she'd eaten a big meal, until about 32 weeks. At that point she almost overnight went from big meal to really big bump. We decided that it was due to 'pelvic room'. I have no discernable curves and she is very much an hourglass and both of us are tall.

Ohmydayssilleople · 17/07/2022 13:50

My daughter had a no existent bump at 38 weeks when she was induced!! Everyone who had examined her said she had a really strong abdominal muscles.
Baby was 7 lbs when she was born…really try and not worry.X

leah3 · 17/07/2022 13:52

Thank you so much everyone, hopefully it’s just strong stomach muscles 🤞🏼 I feel her kicks are getting stronger so something must be right 😃

I’ve had this as well. A woman at work is the same gestation as me and her bump is huge. She keeps commenting on how small my bump is 🙄 Personally I love my neat bump! I was measured by the midwife and she said I’m right on cue so I’m not worried. She commented that I have abs of steel which would account for the ‘neatness’.

My v slim and athletic gran didn’t show at all 🤷🏻‍♀️

DappledThings · 17/07/2022 15:17

Totally normal. I only switched from my normal jeans to maternity ones at 25 weeks.

anonanonanon123 · 17/07/2022 15:22

I still got in my normal size 8 jeans till
27 weeks no real bump till at least 32 wks prob more like 34/35. I only gained 9lbs (Thanks HG) and baby was 7lb5 born at 38+5. Oh I also had a growth scan for small bump about 35weeks and they said he was fine I was just neat

Kisskiss · 17/07/2022 15:25

My bump measured small all the way - freaked out when the midwife plotted it at 2 percentile on growth charts..kept getting sent for emergency scans due to how small I was, but everything was totally fine thank god
if there’s any issues they will know, as other have said, if you have a long torso, strong abs etc you can just look small all the way!

GuidingSpirit · 17/07/2022 15:36

I think being tall definitely helps! Im 5'8 and i was told all along my pregnancy that i had a "really neat" bump (even though i still felt like a whale at the end). And i was def not a size 10 to begin with. 🤣 But when DD was born she was just 5lb 12oz so i think I genuinely just did have a small bump! Hasn't helped me get back in my jeans any quicker though 😳

Beanniebaby22 · 17/07/2022 15:44

Currently 22 weeks over here and I am plus sized. I can feel where my bump is (under my belly fat 😅) but I don’t think I look pregnant to people who don’t know, just chunky.
I am 5’4” very short torso, size 20 and first baby. Really hoping the bump will round out a bit in the next few weeks. People in work keep commenting that I haven’t got big yet and that am not wearing maternity uniforms 🙄 it does get annoying.

leah3 · 17/07/2022 15:59

Thank you everyone! I have a growth scan at 32 weeks due to low Papp-a anyway so hopefully then, they’ll confirm all is good!

I didn't get a bump until about 30 weeks!

HappyGoDucky · 17/07/2022 16:19

I had no bump with either of my 2 DC, I just kind of lost my waist and went a bit rectangular. DC 1 was 1 week overdue and 7lb5 and DC 2 was 2 weeks overdue and 7lb 13 so average sized babies.

People didn't realise I was pregnant, I was in for a blood test and was sitting I the waiting area and I was asked to give up my seat for the pregnant lady, I refused and told them I was 39 weeks myself. Hospital security even tried moving me until they realised what my blood tests were for!

Coachwork · 17/07/2022 16:33

I suffer badly from allergies. I went into anaphylaxis and DH rushed me to the A&E. My throat was closing and I couldn't speak.

The doctor asked if there was a chance I could be pregnant, 'yes.' DH replied. The next question was when was I due, to which DH responded Saturday. DC1 arrived seven days later weighing over eight pounds.

I have three DC and have never had a noticeable bump with any of them. I also didn't go above a size 10.

PermanentlyTired03 · 17/07/2022 16:52

I was the same with my first. I looked bloated and a bit podgy for ages. Then in a space of about 2 weeks I developed a huge bump!

Dyra · 17/07/2022 17:29

Admittedly I'm obese, but you couldn't tell I was pregnant until well after 30 weeks with my first. Then all of a sudden I had a huge bump! You could tell almost immediately with my second.

leah3 · 17/07/2022 19:14

Wow, I had no idea how common it is! I feel so much more reassured. Thank you to everyone! 💖
