Reassurance scan after a previous mmc

Hi all,

I'm happy to join you all on this board again after having a mmc 2 months ago because of a blighted ovum - I'm 4 weeks pregnant again! Wahoo! I'm happy but extremely scared as I'm convinced the same thing is going to happen again. To settle my nerves, I would like to book a reassurance scan, but don't want to do one too early. When would you all recommend one? ❤

Congratulations!

I had one at 8 weeks and they could see the heartbeat so I was glad I waited until then!

I had a reassurance scan at 8 weeks, it was torture waiting but I really didn't want to get one earlier and not see a heartbeat. At 8 weeks it can be abdominal too which is nice

I've had 2 TV scans at 7 weeks and seen a heart beat both times. Congratulations 🎉

I was also in this situation OP, I went for 8 weeks as it can give you a very definite answer by then. I lost my first to a MMC but then went on to have two successful pregnancies. Best wishes for everything xx

I had one at 6wk 2 days and I was able to see heartbeat (it was an internal scan). It made me feel better knowing all was in the right place and going ok for that stage.

I think I was about 5 weeks. It was great, saw the heartbeat and that the pg was in the right place and everything. I did feel very reassured.

Sorry for your loss and congrats!

I had them between 7-8 weeks.

Depending on you age and pregnancy history, you might get one on the NHS. I was offered them after either my 1st or 2nd loss- can't recall. In my area, I had to book via GP. Other areas, you can book direct with EPU. Its worth asking about before going private.
