So, the sonographer said "he"

We just had our 12 wk scan, and am completely unfussy about having a girl, or a boy, as this has been a long, long road to our rainbow baby... however, during the scan my husband hear the sonographer say "he" and now, I cannot get out of my own head, or the scan pictures, we aren't telling anyone yet due to recurrent loss and not feeling safe to yet, so, I'd love anyones thoughts and guesses! I PROMISE to update when we do find out 🤗

Congratulations on your baby 😊 I love nub guessing. And I would say that’s a boy !

ELM8 · 15/07/2022 10:09

For various reasons we had weekly scans from 20 weeks. We didn't find out the sex and depending on the sonographer they would say "he" or "she" interchangeably so I wouldn't read too much into it Smile

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Eileen101 · 15/07/2022 10:10

Congrats op Flowers

i was told that they say 'he' as a 'one size fits all'.

I'm awful with scan pics, I have to be told what's what, but wanted to say congrats 😀

LolaJ87 · 15/07/2022 10:10

That looks like a boy-shaped skull to me but it's so hard to tell! How exciting for you, congratulations on your rainbow baby 🌈Fingers and toes crossed for you that things continue to go well.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 15/07/2022 10:11

The sonographer said she with us; my husband was convinced it was a girl. I had a strong feeling it was a boy. He definitely is 😁

They alternate; to avoid using “it” and causing offence.

Ilithyiaa · 15/07/2022 10:12

Thanks so much <3

Oh thank you so much! Yes, in some of the shots it looks more boxy like a "boy skull" in others it looks more round with pointier chin, I didn't want to focus on the sex haha and here I am!

They generally say he or she to avoid offence. Once a successful 12 week scan has been seen etc they usually then say "baby" but some still say "he or she"

Germolenequeen · 15/07/2022 10:18

Mine said "he" too and my son is 25 tomorrow 😅

All the best for your pregnancy 💐

WinterMusings · 15/07/2022 10:18

Congratulations!!

I've no idea! Could be a puppy for all I can tell, sorry!

I'll be keeping all my fingers & paws 🐾 for the safe arrival of your baby xx

Germolenequeen · 15/07/2022 10:21

This was a late scan too - can't remember the exact weeks but I was breech until he turned (a very strange sensation 😳)

Chocoqueen · 15/07/2022 10:24

No idea, but the sonographer said 'he' at my 12 week scan and DD is definitely a girl!

Marblessolveeverything · 15/07/2022 10:28

Congratulations, my friend is a sonographer and uses baby, saved her tripping up.

MidwifeAMA · 15/07/2022 10:31

I vote girl 😆

vroom321 · 15/07/2022 10:33

I thought you said it doesn't matter? Just wait for the 20 week scan. That's if they will tell you?

LolaJ87 · 15/07/2022 10:44

@vroom321 it didn't matter to me either but I still wanted to know! This is a long awaited baby for the OP, let her be excited.

vroom321 · 15/07/2022 10:46

She does deserve to be excited I agree.

Ilithyiaa · 15/07/2022 10:56

Thanks so much everyone! I think back to when I'd see these posts clinging on to another test turning slowly negative I'd get so frustrated, YOU HAVE A BABY! Please know I am beyond excited and truly, truly don't mind what we have, I'm just being neurotic and maybe indulging in some of the more normal pregnancy excitement :) ❤

God forbid someone shows an ounce of excitement about finding out information about a long awaited baby…

PeanuttyButter · 16/07/2022 11:14

Our stenographer accidentally said he at the 12 week scan that DH picked up on but I didn't. I was trying not to pee myself. NIPT results have confirmed we are having a boy 💙

PeanuttyButter · 16/07/2022 11:14

Elspethelf · 19/07/2022 05:24

I think boy :) Congratulations

It's a Mumsnet thing. Just as we're only supposed to spend £5 on our wedding, kick our kids out to fend for themselves at 16, and build extensions for cheeky fucker houseguests who stay too long! Nobody believes these things in real life.

girlmom21 · 19/07/2022 09:07

Sonographers said he to me during both pregnancies. I have two girls!
