Hi, just wondering panicking quite a lot as took fluconazole 150mg one off tablet for thrush at the end of my last period and I’ve just found out I’m pregnant. So worried as it says on the box not to take if you’re trying to conceive. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this? Thankyou so much!

I wanted that just a few weeks ago and I was 12 weeks then and the doctor advised no just take the pessaries. Strange, as the pharmacist told me I could pay for it over the counter and are safe during pregnancy.
In the end, I wound up just doing a full week of internal pessaries and not to place them too far in.
Try the cannestenn pessaries, they are expensive so get them on prescription

Touch wood it should be fine as it was the one tablet.
As PP said you can use pessaries but when using them don't use the applicator it comes with you have to use your fingers. Also, unless you get free prescriptions it's actually cheaper to get thrush duo off prescription as they charge for 2 items as 2 items are in the box.

Of course once your maternity exemption comes through then 100% get it on prescription but your maternity exemption wouldn't cover you now.

Thanks yes seems to be advised not to take, but there doesn’t seem to be studies that show the low dose as a one off causes problems. Gosh so stressful I haven’t slept!

Hoping also as when I took the tablet it was a week before I actually released an egg for ovulation, so by the time egg was released most of it was out of my system. Maybe even all of it. Seems to take 6-10 to fully be expelled by the body, but half out within 12-20 hrs. Gosh I am so stressed 😥

OP you weren't even pregnant when you took it!
Stop worrying!

ItsSnowJokes · 13/07/2022 07:21

As previous poster said if you took it at the end of your period you weren't even pregnant so you have no worries.

Ethelfromnumber73 · 13/07/2022 07:24

Hi OP,

Please don't worry

It takes about six days for a dose of fluconazole to leave your body. If you took it at the end of your period, you then wouldn't have ovulated for about another week after the fluconazole. Your baby has not been exposed.

Thankyou. Logically it makes sense that it’s fine. My anxious mind is just taking it out of perspective 🙏

I took a 3 tablet course of fluconazole (1 every 3 days) for a bad bout of thrush, when I was about 3 weeks (didn't know I was pregnant then) and I have a healthy and happy 5 month old!

It was so early on when you took the tablet, I really wouldn't worry.

If you do get thrush again though, while pregnant, just ensure you dont take fluconazole and to use the pessaries (doc can prescribe them and you get them for free with your maternity exemption cert).

Thankyou winterbabyrose 😊 I saw the doctor today and she said the same. Thankyou for your help!
