Blighted twin 15 + 5 - does anybody have any experience?

Hi all,

It was discovered that I had a twin pregnancy at 7 weeks in EPU but one was an empty sac. The second pregnancy was developing as normal. I didn't have any symptoms following that until June 16th at 11 weeks... I had a haemorrhage bright red blood at a work event and I was told by A&E it was likely a complete miscarriage and I needed to go home on bed rest.

I visited EPU a few days later and they said my second baby was absolutely fine and my cervix was closed. I was asked to continue bed rest and just wait and see. I have since had my dating scan and experienced on and off bleeding of brown blood throughout.

I am now 15 + 5 and today at work I experienced a massive bleed of fresh red blood and I was rushed to EPU. On examination my cervix remained closed and baby's heart was strong but the Dr told me he is 70% sure I am having a miscarriage. I have again been sent home on bed rest and told not to stress out and let it happen.

I am completely heartbroken and devastated... I cannot stop crying. I have a gender reveal and well-being scan booked on Friday which they told me to still attend but I am feeling traumatised and confused. I have hated every moment of this anxiety and worry and I feel incapable of carrying my baby to term. I am praying my cervix stays closed and this bleeding stops but I just don't understand what's happening.

At every scan the empty sac has remained but looks a bit smaller. What is the likely outcome here and has anybody ever experienced this and carried the baby to term?

thanks so much

I'm sorry I can't offer you any advice hopefully someone will be along soon with some. You poor thing I can easily say try not to stress but that's impossible, understandably so. Can you possibly get your next scan brought forward?
Try and keep distracted any old thing on the tv that's easy to watch and isn't too taxing. Deep breaths sending you prays and hope xx
