I went to my midwife appointment and she gave me a carbon monoxide detector to blow into to get a reading, it came back as 2 ppm.

Is this normal? I’m a non smoker and I’m not exposed to any smoke. Is anybody else a non smoker with readings like mine?

That's normal.

pimlicoanna · 11/07/2022 18:46

It's normal for them to ask

@littlemissalwaystired @changingroom @pimlicoanna thank you for your replies , I was concerned because a smoker used to live in my house and there’s third hand smoke residue due to this, so I was freaking out 😀

You pick it up just riding in a car or walking down the street where cars are. Some days your readings will be higher than others. I certainly wouldn't worry about a past smoker used to be living in your house.

No, normal to ask. Mine was 3 and I've never smoked - figured it was from cycling home before my appointment!

Hi, I have just had my first contact apt with midwife I’m 10w 3D, and my carbon monoxide was at 7 I’m a non smoker in a non smoking house with 3 carbon monoxide alarm in my house. I do live on a busy main road all day which she said she thinks that’s what is it. Midwife said she’s not concerned it’s something in the house I.e boiler etc but it is high she said anything above 3 classes as high. Where I work everyday I have to walk through a smoking alley she told me to stop that but it wouldn’t of affected todays reading as I haven’t been in work for 4 days! So now I’m abit confused really and worried!!x
