Thanks FioFio, was trying to avoid having to fill it in as I have to see a midwife to do it and i didnt want a wasted journey. I have form fatigue, IYSWIM...

Blimey Fio- just checked it out, we're entitled to then because of the DLA element of WTC!

I'd have never known that and I used to advise aprents on these things!

Thank you! And I am 29.5 weeks too, so exactly right time to apply

No its a breeze but getting to see midwife isnt (have to arrange transport etc) Just frustrating that not one agency can give me a straight answer.

why don't you ring and see if midwife will come to you considering your circumstances?

If you get Incap with an underlying entitlement to Income Support then you qualify, but otherwise I'd wait until the baby is born and claim once you receive your child tax credit.

If you already get child tax credit of more than £42 (£84 with baby premium) every 4 weeks then you are entitled to apply for the SSMG.

mrspnut · 17/01/2008 11:03

You have until the baby is 3 months old to claim the SSMG - so if you don't qualify before birth then you can claim after.

BearMama · 17/01/2008 11:40

Thanks everyone - have finally got an answer from nice lady at CAB and I cant claim with IB, but should be able to after birth, so i'll wait to get CTC.

That's a good start anyway- at leat you can delay a few things (babies are easy to carry for the first few weeks for example, and a moses basket does until a cot arrives.

BearMama · 17/01/2008 11:58

Peachy, am fast learning that optimism is as essential as knowledge! Do you know how long CTC takes to pay after applying?

OP posts:
Peachy · 17/01/2008 12:01

The payments seem to go in before the notice reaches us- never more than a couple of weeks ime.

BearMama · 17/01/2008 12:03

Oh that's much better than I hoped - thank you!
