Coccyx pain in second trimester

I’m having horrendous coccyx pain when I sit for more than 10 minutes or so. I’ve just got back from a restaurant and the pain was overwhelming throughout the meal and I really struggled to get up after. I’ve noticed it more and more recently and I’m only 16 weeks! Everything I’ve googled says that it’s lower back pain but it isn’t. It’s literally just the bottom of the coccyx. I’ve bought a cushion so hopefully that will help but has anyone else experienced this and has tips to help ease the pain? I’m icing it atm so hopefully that might help!

Thanks!

Hey, I had coccyx pain before pregnancy and it has only worsened since! Have recently been sent to a physio, contact your midwife and request a referral.

They gave me some exercises to do (no help as of yet) and advised me to get a ball to sit on when I can. I already used a coccyx cushion which certainly does prevent it worsening... If I sit in a chair without it, I really know about it!

I was advised to take a lift instead if stairs where possible because the relaxin hormone can make the bits around your pelvis and coccyx more unstable so shifting balance from.one leg to another can aggravate it. Personally I don't think it does for me, but thought I would share.

Good luck!
