Had bought one 2nd hand before but the handles broke, so was looking for another that's not ging to cost too much - should of bought a decent one to begin with really but only listened to advice from mags.....

I love your name

Anyway, have you checked out ebay? There are lots of nursery shops on there that only sell new items and some of them are really quite cheap. I always find it useful to check with Mothercare how much something should cost then I can see how much cheaper it is.

I'll also say that I have had a second hand one for each of my three children and never had any problems with them. You may have just been unlucky in the one that you previously bought.

Not sure what you mean by reasonably priced, but mine was £30 from John Lewis which I didn't think was too bad.

Got mine 2nd hand from Oxfam with stand for 8.00 - has done 3 kids and in good condition I then sold it for £5 at an NCT sale - I think you were just unlucky too

Mothercare sells one for £19.99.

I bought a second hand one then bought a new mattress for it- can't rememebr how much it was in total but much less than brand new. My mum also bought a stand but tbh I wouldn't have bothered. Said basket has now done dd, my friend's baby and about to be brought out for baby no.2
