Hi Ladies!

5 weeks pregnant today and just want someone to refresh my memory as I honestly can't remember this far back when I was pregnant with my other children.

How many weeks are you when you should have your first midwife appointment?

& is the first scan you have around 12 weeks?

I was contemplating booking an early private one or do I just be patient and wait until my first nhs one?

X

Hi,

congratulations!

First midwife appt is usually around 8 weeks however I had mine at 11 weeks. And scan is 12 weeks but again I didn’t have first until I was 14 weeks.

I didn’t bother with a private scan early on to be honest there’s not much to see.

Hiya, I'm 21+6 so been through this recently. My first midwife apt was around 9 weeks. I believe it can be anything between 8-10wks. Then first scan is around 12 weeks but can be anything up to around 14 weeks. All depends on how busy your hospital is. Then 16 wk midwife apt. Then anomaly scan around 20wks. Then 24 wk midwife apt where you'll hear the heartbeat. Not sure how frequent apts are after that as not there yet with this one and like you I cant remember from my first pregnancy. I think midwife apts might be every 4-6weeks. Hope that helps.

We waited for nhs scan but lots of ppl tend to book a private one earlier. Each to your own really.

Thank you both @Gossipxox & @Kellog88 🥰🥰

Congratulations!

First midwife appointment is about 10 weeks. My dating scan was at 12+6 but I've seen lots of people having scans in week 13.

Up to you whether to wait - I had them in my 7th and 10th week in current and previous pregnancy.

Congratulations!
I had my first midwife booking appointment around 8 weeks. It was over the phone but I had a face to face appointment at 10 weeks for some blood tests. I had my 12 week scan at 13 weeks but booked an early scan at 8 weeks to double check everything.

Congratulations! I had my booking appointment with my midwife at 6 weeks and then 12 week scan at 12+3.

I did pay for a private scan at 8+2 though for some reassurance!

Thank you @wishuponastar1988 @Chanel05 & @Hiddenvoice 😊 I think I am going to pay to have a private scan around the 8 week mark, 12 weeks seems like SO long away 🙈

I used the NHS due date calculator to work out the approx date I'm due based on my LMP and also how many weeks I am, I presume this is near enough accurate in terms of how many weeks I am? Just want to make sure I'm booking a private scan not too early but not too late! My LMP was 4th June x

Yes I went on the date of my LMP which was accurate for me (my cycles are fairly stable and I knew roughly when I ovulated). The 8 week scan was definitely worth it for me and gave me some reassurance before the hospital one came through. I waited until I was around 8 weeks as I knew then that there should be a heartbeat if all was well - I didn't want to go too early and be sent away and told to come back. X

If it's not your first you won't have all of them, eg the 31 week I think.

Thank you @Borgonzola this will be my 3rd baby 😊
