Hi all wonder how others are dealing with this, I am 5+2 I work in a school and end of year meals are approaching fast, currently finding it really hard to think about food 🤢 having to sit and pretend everything is ok when everything is just making you feel super sick and the idea of sitting with others, I am thinking of backing out.
What do you think I should do? by then I will be 7 weeks x

You don’t have to go if you’re feeling ill. But writing off social events and meals out from now is quite drastic at 5+2.

I was sick from 4+5 days so it's not drastic at 5+2 at all. Everyone experiences symptoms differently. I couldn't go out for meals or even be in a supermarket food shopping I was that bad! I went out for a meal last week for the first time in a month and all I could manage was a jacket potato and tap water! You don't have to go to the meal if you don't feel up to it, people get ill all the time and have to cancel so I'm sure your colleagues would understand.

@Jessieharriet181 thank you for your reply, I'm glad someone else feels the same I thought I was overreacting about it but it feels horrendous the thought of it even eating in general at home I'm struggling with the thought of x
I'll make final decision nearer the time, thank you x
Hope it gets easier for you x

@Skinnermarink at the time of the meals I will be 7 weeks, honestly the sickness feeling I am experiencing I don't think its a drastic decision to make, the thought of eating anything is making me feel really sick x

You might be fine on the day.. I'd see how you feel nearer the time. I had days of feeling horrendous and days of feeling fine in the first trimester

Soapie19 · 09/07/2022 11:24

@sunnyside238 thank you, I think that's the best idea x

Just wait until the day and then say you've got a migraine if you can't face it.

wishuponastar1988 · 09/07/2022 16:40

See how you feel closer to the time. I was very up and down with food and sickness. I generally could only stomach carb heavy beige foods so if I was out I would've opted for chips or a jacket potato. I missed one event and said I had a sickness bug because I couldn't face it. I empathise with you because the nausea is horrific x

I went for a couple meals recently. There are pros and cons. One was fine and one was hard.

Definitely see how you feel on the day. The perks are you don’t have to cook with all the smells, the downside was the wait made the nausea worse. Get some nibbles for while you wait.
