Vomiting only starting in second trimester

Hi all,

I am pregnant with my second baby (15 weeks). With my DS I had nausea until week 16 but never vomited/dry heaved.

With this baby, it started the same way but the nausea (MS on a whole) was more intense. I also had dizzy spells and fatigue (probably expected with a toddler as well). At 12 weeks I got car sick and vomited spectacularly. Ever since then, the nausea has subsided but I have been really sensitive to bad smells that can lead to aggressive dry heaving and sometimes vomiting. More surprisingly, the dry heaving can come out of nowhere for no particular reason. Although, I have a theory it could be when I am dehydrated.

I know each pregnancy is different but is it normal to start throwing up in the second trimester? Is it just that my MS has changed and not stopped? I did not have any issues with my first pregnancy (pre-eclampsia etc) and it is still 10 days away from my next midwife appointment. I guess I am hoping someone has experienced something similar and it is just one of those things instead of something being wrong. I am currently unwell with a virus too and the dry heaving has upped a notch.

Thank you!

I haven't had terribly bad MS in either pregnancy, mostly a "carsick" feeling and just puking every day when I brush my teeth. That puking has lasted longer with the 2nd pregnancy, I'm nearly 32 weeks and would still puke while brushing my teeth at least 3 times a week.

I wasn't actually sick until 17 weeks for some reason!

In my second pregnancy I didn't start feeling sick/puking until I was 12 weeks. Funnily enough, it coincided with DC1 stopping breastfeeding.
