Hello.

Looking to see if this is normal... sonographer said not to worry but I'd just like to hear if this has happened during other's pregnancies and also how big their babies were in the end!?

At my 20 week scan baby was measuring around the 53rd percentile, which for me I thought was quite good. I'm just shy of 5ft1, very skinny and have had little babies before.

At my 28 week checkup yesterday the midwife said my bump was measuring 3 weeks ahead and said it felt like fluid. I had polyhydramnios in my first pregnancy, caused by a genetic condition that caused me to go into preterm labour at 32 weeks. My baby passed away 2 weeks later.

I was sent for an urgent scan today where we found that yes, there is above average fluid but it's still within the normal range so that was a relief.

However... baby is now measuring at the 86th percentile!! I'm shocked and a little worried.

Has this happened to anyone else and if you're baby was on the above average side (say, above 75th) how big were they at delivery?

They said they're not even worried about checking me for GD as baby is below 96th percentile... I don't even eat much. Have terrible heartburn which is a bit of an issue with keeping food down.

TIA! x

I’m so sorry for your previous loss.

Just to say that at my 20 week scan baby was just slightly above average, at 28 week midwife check, she took the measurement and said it was bang on average. Then went for a growth scan at 30 weeks, and baby now measuring 97th percentile!

Can’t work that out, but other posters have pointed out that there is a big margin of error in growth scans - so who knows?

Also very sorry for your loss Flowers

Agree that there can be a huge margin of error. I'm a similar height and both times had extra growth scans. Both times I was told I'd have tiny babies. I think DS was 6lb 8oz and DD was 8lb 3oz. Definitely not tiny.

Have they booked you in for anymore scans?

Thanks ladies. Glad to know it's not unusual and not exact.

@PritiPatelsMaker I have two more growth scans at 32 and 36. I'm booked in for a csection at 39+1 but because of severe PGP and previously going into preterm labour, I think birth will be brought forward.
