Gestational sac measuring small

Hi there!
Can anyone chime in on this?

Had a second ultrasound today and baby measured right on track at 8 weeks and had a heart rate of 171.

However, the gestational sac only measured 6w 4d. My dr said this will "likely" catch up.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Outcomes? Same boat?

Thanks!

No specific experience but at my 6 week scan (to check for ectopic), I was certain of my dates and the baby only measured 5 weeks. Fast forward to my 12 week scan and the baby is measuring 6 days ahead. So these things aren't that accurate. And they're measuring such a small thing that there's loads of error associated with it.

If the doctor isn't worried then I would try not to worry...!

Good luck with it all!

Hey, I have a similar situation. Doctor didn’t give any specifics but said gestational sac measured small for the gestational age. I was 5w5days then, so I guess it’s still a bit early to draw a conclusion.
I wanted ask how your situation turned out. Hope the GS caught up..?

Hi Op, can I ask how this turned out for you? I’m in the same position. Had an early scan this morning. Baby measuring bang on dates at 7w 4d but sac was only measuring 6 weeks x

Hello, were there any updates from any of you? I am also now in the same position and would be very grateful to hear back.

@eloisie everything worked out for me. My little boy was born 2 weeks ago. The sac did indeed catch up by about week 9. Was never huge though but baby was fine x

Thank you @Char899 . I just have to be patient and hopeful. Had you done anything eg drink water to help or is that all a myth?

Char899 · 23/08/2023 17:21

@eloisie pretty sure that’s a myth but I think I did it anyway! Can’t hurt!

unfortunately this was another miscarriage for me. However! The very next cycle I conceived again and I just gave birth to her 3 months ago 😃 sometimes we have to just keep trying to get the perfect combination! Don’t give up!

Thanks both. Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst, which I guess is all I can do as it’s out of our hands and I feel exhausted by the constant worry that I have had in the past few weeks. We are lucky to have a beautiful daughter already. We will have a united front, whatever happens next.
