Hiding pregnancy at a wedding

Hi all,

I'm a guest at a wedding tomorrow. Obviously I won't be drinking (I'm going to drive) but as this is unusual for me, I know that I'll be under suspicion! Any tips on how to deflect attention or any excuses. I really don't want my friends knowing before my parents. I'm only 6 weeks and just found out yesterday that I'm expecting. Thanks so much.

I agree. Just say you're driving if asked and leave it at that.

You're driving, that's reason enough. Don't pretend to drink and then get in the car!

If anyone presses why you didn't get a taxi (if it's local) then you either left it too late and couldn't get one - very believable in our area - or you hit the wine too hard the night before and are suffering so decided to drive and have the day off booze.

At the reception and in the evening, I just got a coke and said it was a vodka and coke. At the dinner and toasts etc., I got a glass of wine / champagne and my husband would drink out of my glass when no one was looking etc. He got absolutely plastered our friends who got married still laugh about it!

Just always have a drink in your hand and have your other half drink them. That’s what I did.

telling people you’re on antibiotics is tantamount to hanging a sign round your neck saying I’M PREGNANT BUT I’M NOT TELLING PEOPLE YET

I think just don't make a big fuss, no big excuses like antibiotics. Just I'm driving today should suffice. If people suspect then fine but just don't give it too much headspace. Good luck with your pregnancy xxx
