Bleeding, cramps and clots early pregnancy

Hiya! I'm all new to this. I found out I was pregnant over 2 weeks ago. After a week I started having some cramping, fairly heavy bright red bleeding and a few clots. I had a scan with epu and baby was ok, fetal heart beat and measuring between 5 to 6 weeks. The bleeding continued but cramps eased to mild period pains for 5 more days, ending with one big clot at the end (about the size of my baby finger) I have stopped bleeding for 2 days now. I have done a pregnancy test and they are now coming back very faint, I have tried a few brands. I am completely going out of my mind. I just want to know what's happening. I've tried contacting epu and my midwife but I am getting absolutely nowhere. Has this happened to anyone?

Thank you 💕

@gc192 sorry you are going through this. Also sorry to hear that the EPU and Midwife have been no support.

I bright red bleeding when i wiped which then throughout the morning progressed to clots (@ 9 weeks). I done a pregnancy test that day and line was no longer a dye stealer it was faint. I contacted the EPU and they booked me in for a scan later that day. Unfortunately, it was bad news for me. This is my experience and I'd rather be honest with you but i'm sure someone will jump on this thread and have a similar experience with successful outcomes.

Bleeding and cramping in early pregnancy is normal. Their is also something called the 'hook effect' which might explain the faint lines.

Are you able to book a private scan?

Whatever the outcome take care and look after yourself 💕

Thank you so much for your reply. So sorry to hear about your loss.
I have just looked into the hook effect, some reassurance thank you. My lines were so dark last week and suddenly they aren't there now.

I have booked one for next week at a place that scans from 7 weeks, I should be a little over 7 weeks then. Nowhere near me does private internal scans unfortunately.

Your bleeding has stopped and you previously seen a heatbeat at a scan so that is maybe a good sign. A heartbeat between 5-6 is pretty good.

Try relax and take each day as it comes, also if things don't seem right before the private scan keep on at your EPU.

Good luck!

I have managed to get back onto epu, had a lovely midwife answer the call this time and shes booked me in for a scan tomorrow morning. Trying to stay positive but prepared for the worst. Thank you xx
