Had monstrous heartburn with ds and although I'm only 23 weeks pg now it's back with avengence. I can go down the swigging Gaviscon route like I did last time but are there any foods I need to avoid to make it less painful?

Heartburn remedies (like rantidine) become less effective the more you use them (or so I read). So use as sparingly as you can so that they are effective when you really need them.
I find sleeping on my left side, getting more exercise, and standing up very straight help alleviate it (some). Salty food is the worst trigger for me. Alas, the other strategies people have mentioned don't help me personally, but worth a try, I'm sure.
Good tip about the celery bringing on labour, now I'm full term.
