HCG went down from 16,000 to 14,000 in a week normal?

Hello. I have been reading so many post here that are very helpful. I'm thankful for this website. So I'm on my first trimester 6 weeks if I'm correct and have been spotting on and off light pink to brown, cramping, braxton hicks once? But not bleeding. Went to my OB and he performed a transvaginal ultrasound for like 30 sec last week (5weeks) and he said no HB and Ask for blood test and told me options to make the process faster and diagnosed me w pregnacy loss just like that. So my hcg came back 16,000 something Monday, 15,950 Wednesday, 14,250 Friday. And today his nurse called and confirmed that it is not a normal pregnancy. My question is, is that enough evidence to tell me this is not a normal pregnancy? Tomorrow I'm going to see him again and I'm hoping he would take some time to see/hear the heartbeat. I just feel like baby is growing and that he should do some more test before confirming through his nurse that this is not a normal pregnancy. My heart is still hoping that it is and that he is wrong. Anybody went through the same thing? Thanks in advance.

I forgot to mention that he saw 2 empty sacs w no HB and said maybe it's a twin or a sac that split into two? He didn't even measure the sac to see how far along I was. He just asked when was my last period. This has been the hardest 2 weeks of my life being in limbo is so hard. My symptoms are still very strong. Fatigue, a little nausea, tender breasts, irritated. This is my 3rd pregnancy btw. Thanks for taking time to read my posts. Just desperate for an answer.

Not sure on the HCG but I wouldn't want to see him again. He sounds rude.

Fetal Heartbeart are usually seen at 8 weeks. Why has he not asked you to come back at 8 weeks to do another scan?

Heartbeat*

well He sounds awful I’d be getting a new OB .
at 5 weeks a hb wouldn’t be visible on scan even if a viable pregnancy , if he saw two sacs it’s possible it was a twin pregnancy and one possibly hasn’t made it hence the declining HCG but he should be re scanning you

Hi
Sorry to hear this :(
Was it an internal vaginal ultrasound? I have a scan booked for 6 weeks (from 6 weeks+ scan is doable). Is a heartbeat detectable or do they just scan?
Definitely get a second look, fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

Either what’s happening here is your loosing a twin if it’s twin pregnancy or your pregnancy is not viable. Hcg is the only way to measure an early pregnancy when it’s too early to be seen on an ultrasound. To find out what’s going on here your going to need more bloods to see what’s going on with this hcg, yes it’s dropped which indicates not a viable pregnancy but it could also drop if just one of those sacs didn’t make it but the other still is. Vanishing twin syndrome is unfortunately very common it’s just we never really know about it unless we all go for super early testing.

Technically if we count it from my last period I am 8 weeks but I know it was conceived last week of May so I'm counting I'm only 6 weeks 4 days today.

It was an internal vaginal ultrasound. I'm hoping he would do another one today. I'll keep you posted.

Update: The OB did another transvaginal ultrasound today and still no heartbeat. He is positive that I'm having a missed miscarriage. He said with my hcg being high we should be able to hear a heartbeat. I'm so broken. I'm also spotting again. Going back in 2 weeks if it doesn't start on its own.

I am so sorry.

PinkBump2022 · 08/07/2022 03:09

I’m so sorry op. I had two losses in a row 5 years ago then got pregnant for the 3rd time which I carried to term. It’s so sad when things don’t work out but you will get there

Sitasita · 08/07/2022 05:53

Sorry to hear OP :(
Thinking of you x
