when i got home i checked and it was coloureless and didnt really smell of urine.
in last half an hour i think im feeling some mild tightening low down, not really painful and lating only a second or so. what do you think? im 37 1/2 weeks. should i call anybody?!
thanks all. x

How wet were the pants, Mieow? It doesn't sound like forewaters, ie the main ones, so don't panic. There would be loads if it were that.

It could have been a small hindwater leak, in which case you should ring your midwife and ask her to check you out.

It could mean that labour is on the way soonish, or it could be a slow leak and nothing happen for a week or 3!

Give them a ring and ask.

Hi mieowcat, mine broke just before 39 weeks, was very damp when I got up one morning but didn't think too much of it. Got dressed and went to catch a bus and realised I was 'dribbling' - not much, I bought some sanitary towels and that contained it. I had an appointment that afternoon with the midwife who did an internal and confirmed that the waters had gone. That was on a Monday and I didn't go into full blown labour until the early hours of Weds morning. I'd say that if you continue to have wetness, call the mw and ask her to examine you. Good luck!!!

I had the same thing - my hindwaters had broken. Didn't go to the hospital for a couple of days though as I just wasn't sure! When I did finally go in I got told off for leaving it... heh.

you could call, and most likely you will be advised to put a pad on and check if it is wet, and then go in to be checked if so. also, if you can stop the flow of fluid, it is wee, you cannot control the flow of amniotic fluid. might have been a hindwater leak, as has been mentioned, and it will reseal and replenish

I would get it checked because there is a risk of infection once your waters have gone, particularly if you don't go into labour fairly soon afterwards (a couple of days not hours so no immediate panic).

However, when my waters broke I had a steady trickle as soon as I was upright. Not pleasant but there was no mistaking it. If yours is only a bit of wetness it could be just the hindwaters but better to be safe than sorry.

Good luck!

It could be your waters, the baby could have it's head blocking the hole and so preventing the leak. Worth getting checked. Mine broke with ds2 at about 22weeks and it was a nightmare, thankfully all was well but it was a scary time.

With dd they went at 36 weeks and it was a definite gush and then constant leaking, I filled a maternity pad in minutes. With ds2 though it was a slow constant leak which meant my waters had a chance to replenish and the bedrest helped.

Ds1 they went in labour and popped all over the floor! I would definitely give your midwife or labour ward a call just to be sure.

How are things today, mieowcat?

Any further developments?

I hope all is well.
