Could progesterone pessaries be causing spotting?

Hi all,
Just after some advice from those of you who've used cyclogest pessaries while pregnant. I'm currently 5 weeks pregnant and due to a previous mc, I've been using the pessaries twice a day for a week with no issues. Until this morning, when I went to the loo I saw a fair bit of brown discharge on my liner and when I wiped. Its made me so worried another mc is happening but I've also read and am hoping that the pessaries might be the cause of the spotting? Any shared experience of what is what like using the pessaries would be much appreicated.
Thanks x

Hi there, I used Lutigest pessaries 3x per day during the first 14 weeks of pregnancy - I never had any spotting or bleeding while using them. My understanding is that the progesterone pessaries work to keep the uterine lining from breaking down so wouldn't be causing bleeding in that respect, however early pregnancy bleeding for other reasons is totally normal. I completely understand worrying though - could you ask your GP to refer you to the Early Pregnancy Unit? Good luck x

@Maya12345 yes they may be irritating the cervix - I used them rectally to avoid this :)

I know it’s not the same thing but I used pessaries for thrush through early pregnancy and they kept causing light bleeding. The pregnancy still progressed fine. I they were just irritating everything in there. Your cervix is super sensitive so can cause spotting too.

Thanks all! My GP didn't seem too concerned, just need to keep an eye on it and hope it doesn't get worse!
Thanks x
