Geographic tongue pregnancy

Hi!
So around 2/3 weeks ago I felt my tongue would get sore if I ate too many/certain crisps!
The feeling would usually go away but this time it hasn’t! It just flares up if I eat anything salty/spicy/rough textured.
so I had a look at my tongue and saw 2 patches that are red even when the rest of my tongue has a white tint to it. When I brush my tongue then they’re less noticeable.
one has started to fade away and another has appeared in a different location and is growing!
my iron was 9.4 lasts time I had it checked and I wasn’t aware of this so wasn’t taking extra iron. Could this be a contributing factor?

has anyone else had this in pregnancy?! And does it go?! Kinda getting me down
thanks xx

I've had geographic tongue since childhood, usually set off by sour, acidic or very salty foods like acidic fruit, vinegar or crisps.

Can't say I've noticed that it's worse in pregnancy but then I haven't really been paying attention. Does it cause you much discomfort? For me I find it makes me a bit sensitive to things like citrus and pineapple but it doesn't affect my life at all really. You could contact your dentist/oral hygienist if you're concerned?

It doesn’t really cause a significant amount of discomfort tbh.
Sometimes it can feel like I’ve burnt it with hot food/drink. But mostly its okay.
it’s just so weird seeing the patches appear and grow! I’m 26 and have never had this before. But I’ve never really looked at my tongue that closely.

Mine started in my last pregnancy (2019) and I still have it now. They have no idea what's caused/causing it.

I've had blood tests, medications, biopsy, swabs etc but non the wiser!

They recommend I take zinc.

Pregnancy started it off for me and now it's just something I'll have for the foreseeable.

I feel your pain with the soreness, mine goes through phases of being incredibly sore.

Hope it clears up for you once baby is here.

Omg how weird someone was only telling me about this last week! I'd never heard of it before!

Ahhhhh no way! You still have it?!
They don’t physically cause me too much discomfort all the time, just a bit when a new patch first shows up
But I hate the fact that they’re there! Just want them to go away
Hoping they will after I give birth.
I don’t know if that happens or if it just stays once you get it

I had to google this to see what it was but this is what I get when I eat pickled onion flavoured monster munch! It’s almost like my tongue starts to peel I just assumed it was the vinegar but it might be an actual thing.

Wont stop me eating them though
