Vitamin A - accidentally taken while pregnant

Hi all, trying desperately hard not to be a panicker, but had been advised by my Dr to take some women's multivitamins when I found out I was pregnant and have been happily popping them pills for 17 days now...having a read of the bottle this morning and horrified to read a warning on synthetic Vitamin A and pregnancy/birth defect risks ....will obviously stop taking now, but just wanting to know if anyone else has been in the same boat accidentally taking while pregnant? I am 7 weeks 6 days, I was taking 600mcg of vitamin A daily! :(

I didn't think it was allowed in women's ones.

In any case, too little is just as bad as too much (differently had though). Obviously stop now, but unless you've had cravings for liver and pate too I wouldn't stress about it.

I took them accidentally like you and stopped. Don't take them anymore. My baby was born healthy.

That amount while not advised is way below the pregnancy toxicity level by thousands. Don’t worry.

@PreggieGoldilocks86 were they prenatal vitamins or just normal ones? I also was under the impression that Prenatals don't even have vit A in them?

But absolutely, just stop them and find another source of folic acid, vit D etc!

@Flederjo - i am in australia so perhaps regulations/rules for vitamins differ slightly here. they are just womens multivitamins - which is what my doc had advised me to take, along with folate tabs - with no mention of vitamin A concerns. feel so stupid! needless to say, new doc, and no multivitamin tabs from now on!!
