Cyclizine?

Hi ladies.

6+5 and my god my nausea is debilitating 🤮 I can control it slightly now by never letting myself get hungry but Thursday and Friday was relentless I couldn't get out of bed.

I'm not actually vomiting just really really nauseous (I think maybe if I was actually sick I'd have some kind of let up😩)

Can anyone shed any light on cyclizine for me? I've seen so many mixed reviews. Is it worth getting on it?

It was fantastic for me but the first 2-3 days it was scary on how it made me sleep. Just be prepared for that, it does absolutely wear off once your body gets used to it.

I had same experience as @Dancingwithhyenas and I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I had the same situation again.

Worked well for me. Like PPs, it made me so so drowsy the first few days (I couldn't have safely driven, for example), but then that totally went away and I didn't have any problem with sleepiness from it after that.

Didn't do much for me, although I had HG so mine was on the extreme end.

Worth a try I think, OP. Your GP shouldn't have too many issues with giving them to you as they are first line. If the nausea gets worse or you start being sick a lot, though, don't be afraid to ask for more meds.

The pregnancy sickness support website has a page specifically dedicated to the different types of meds you can ask for. I found it invaluable.

Ah ladies all of your replies have been so reassuring. Thank you. I think that's the route I need to go down, I need something for sure! Is it just one tablet a day?

It took a couple of days for the cyclizine to take effect. Cyclizine will leave you feeling really sick instead of feeling really really sick. There are other meds out there which are more effective so try the cyclizine and if you like you are struggling even with the cyclizine then ask for something else.

@taylz12 I think I took one, three times a day? Your GP will be able to recommend a suitable dosage. Don't be fobbed off because you aren't actually being sick, either. The nausea is so relentless and debilitating, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!

Tigerteafor3 · 03/07/2022 21:18

I don't recall being tired on it but I was exhausted anyway. It reduced the vomitting but didn't solve the problem. definitely see a doctor, you don't have to suffer through this.

You can take three a day. I was taking three during my first trimester, then dropped down, eventually just taking one a day by about 25 weeks.

Cyclizinr tablets didn’t do anything for me, although IV cyclizine in a drip was amazing, albeit rather trippy.
Cyclixine is a gateway anytime sickness drug because it’s cheap, so GPs like to prescribe it first. There are several others to try though, it you pursue your GP.

I’ve just started it I’m 7+4 and like you 24/7 nausea and dry heaving. Trying to work full time in a stressful job and look after a child and a dog 🥴 so out of desperation asked my midwife she gave cyclizine. I’ve had one tablet this morning and it eased my nausea in 30 minutes. I still don’t feel top notch usual self but it’s deffo helping and I can now function - I’m also taking vitamin B6 25 mg 3 x a day that I bought and it’s helping x
