Hello
I had an ectopic pregnancy 7 years ago (my first pregnancy) and was given mxt to end the pregnancy. I’m currently pregnant again, 4 weeks 6 days. I referred myself to EPU because of previous ectopic and they scanned me at 4 weeks 2 days but couldn’t see anything, only the thickness of my lining was 12.6mm. They took my bloods which was 223 and progesterone of 50, second one after 48 hours was 535 and just waiting on the results for my third one which I had today and have my next scan booked for Tuesday. Last time I was having cramping and spotting but this time I had mild cramping in the 2ww but that seems to have eased off now with only the slight twinge here and there. I’ve had no spotting, I’ve had a bit of low back pain and trapped wind, I have had some aches in my left shoulder but that seems to have gone with paracetamol. Anyone else had a similar story? I’m so scared it will be ectopic again and I hate the waiting/not knowing :(

I had an ectopic three years ago and am now early pregnant again. I had lots of twinges and some lower abdominal cramping.
First scan at four and a bit weeks showed a lining of 12 or so and HCG of 100. Scan a week later showed a nice gestational sac in the uterine cavity. I was so relieved. Every little cramp or twinge convinced me it was another ectopic !
best of luck. Looks like your HCG is doubling nicely anyway.

Sorry to hear of your ectopic :( congratulations on this pregnancy though! It’s so hard isn’t it, I just think every little niggle is telling me it’s ectopic :(

I had an ectopic last year and now pg again. The cramps have been worse this time than I got in the weeks up to finding out about my ectopic!!

If it helps, my lining was only about 7 when I was scanned early with my ectopic so yours seems a lot thicker. I was scanned this time around at 5 weeks exactly and only saw a sac, no yolk sac or anything, then scanned at 7+1 and we saw everything we needed to ❤ good luck! X

ah congratulations lovely! I hate symptom spotting but I think when you’ve been through something like that you’re so on edge about every little thing aren’t you!? Thank you so much, I’m hoping everything is ok and where it should be x

Just wanted to let you know that we had our scan today and we saw the gestation sac and yolk sac in the correct place, we go back next week to see if we can see fetal pole and heartbeat ☺️

Hi everyone! I recently found out I had an ectopic 2 weeks ago at 7 weeks however it was "resolving" by itself and so was dealt with by expectant management. The hospital have been useless with providing me with info and I want to TTC in a couple of months. With these new pregnancies did you contact the EPU directly or go through your GP? My EPU said that they'd scan another pregnancy at 6 weeks to check but I'd have thought there might be some earlier checking even if it's just bloods!

Hi @NalaNala sorry about your ectopic.
You basically contact the EPU as soon as you find out and they will scan you between 5 and 6 weeks. There's not much risk before this point as you're still so early so they wont do bloods unless they feel they need to. Its better to wait and make sure you are at least 5 weeks for your scan so you see more. They will then scan you another 10 days later as well. Good luck with your recovery and fingers crossed for next time x

That’s wonderful news! Congratulations. It’s such a relief to know it’s not another ectopic isn’t it.

Hi @NalaNana - I'm currently 8w4 following an ectopic in October last year so this is all pretty fresh for me. The minute I found out I was pregnant I called the local EPU directly. I ruptured quite early on in my ectopic (6w6) and I couldn't accurately date the pregnancy so they brought me in at what turned out to be 4w3 and then again a week later where they located the pregnancy. I also had bloods done and they did a viability test at 7 weeks.
I was worried about how quickly I would be seen but tbh the EPU was absolutely lovely and really looked after me so I hope you'll have a similar experience. Personally I'd always go to them directly if you can.
Fingers crossed for you xx
